Bam replied to the topic Is Old Age Getting The Best Of Her? in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 7 months ago
I agree with Glenn. Getting to live in your room instead of in a garage could definitely cause an energy boost. (There is sth known as a “death bed surge” when a dying animal or human suddenly becomes alert and responsive for a short while just before passing away – but that state isn’t sth that goes on for months. Given your experience it’s…[Read more]

Hey!
Given the recent habitat change, to me those symptoms don’t sound particularly concerning. I have heard that sometimes bladder issues can be a culprit and sometimes it’s just because the bunny is protesting the type of litter or due to a change in habitat or something like that.
What kind of energy is it? Energy is often a good thing and…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss.
What a beautiful little bunny and she clearly had the most fun personality!

Yesterday went well! There was just one mount after an hour and half and before that they were just lay and chilling around eachother.
The grooming is still a little hesitant from both bunnies. I guess the back step in grooming is likely due to the location change.
I’m as going to settle them in for a mini marathon day/ 2 long sessions with a…[Read more]

Bladesmith, I’m so sorry to hear this. Dawn was beautiful. You did a good job getting her as far as you did.

So, this is kind of a sadder topic. I think Jumping Jack, my 7 years, 11 months old Holland Lop, may be starting to see some issues with old age
Ever since my dad let me move her into my room from the garage, which was a horrible place to keep her, she has been pooping outside the litterbox. Lots of you said it was because the edge was too high.…[Read more]

Hey there y’all!
So I ran out of rabbit pellets. I have some being shipped in 1-3 days on Chewy, but that’s still 1-3 days. So what should I do in the meantime? I think I have it narrowed down to 2 options
- I can just go without pellets and only feed veggies for the next few days. Jumping Jack is not used to a pellet free diet, though
- My…

So, today I found a little pee puddle outside of Jumping Jack’s pen. I think y’all are right about the lower box, and her not wanting to bother with the higher box, but it may be awhile before I can get one. Is there any temporary ways to make it easier for her to get in?

What do they consider a GMO and which GMO ingredients were replaced with non-GMO? I’m asking because I’m thinking some foods are simply non-GMO by default. If the GMO crop was soybeans, for example, then a soy bean-free food may be non-GMO by default.
Potential GMO ingredients may include:
Soybeans
Canola
Alfalfa
My point is… sometimes…[Read more]

You could just try a different antibiotic instead of resorting to a culture right away.

Clara is almost 12 years old and has quite a few old lady issues– arthritis, micro cracks in spine, blindness, no ears, 3 legs, and a super sassy ‘tude.
Her newest issue is an abscess on her bottom jaw/cheek tooth. Out of everything, THIS is what is going to take her out.
We noticed it December 6th, and the doctor said there was nothing we…[Read more]

Take your buns to the vet! This exact thing happen to my 12yo Clara and she had an ear infection. It could also be from ecuniculi. Regardless, you’ll need to see a vwt for both. Your buns will be put on antibiotics, and all should be good. My buns twitchy eyes/head never went away, but geta much worse when she is stressed or not feeling…[Read more]

And, what would you do with the babies? Can you guarantee a GOOD home for all?
Good luck with your boys. Once officially bonded, there’s nothing quite like seeming them snuggling and grooming each other.

I am hoping to switch my rabbit’s pellets to small pet select. I saw that they had one without soy and gmos. Is that better for them? Does it make a difference?
