There have been no documented cases of COVID-19 infections in domestic rabbits or cottontails. However, lab studies have shown that they can technically become infected with the virus. Keep in mind that this was in a lab where the rabbits were purposefully inoculated with the virus. None of the rabbits in the experiment actually exhibited symptoms…[Read more]

It’s hard to know what to suggest since we don’t know what is available in Malaysia. The link Dana gave gives good information about the nutritional analysis you want to see in a pellet. This might also be helpful. It’s a comparison chart of rabbit pellets: http://www.therabbithouse.com/diet/rabbit-food-comparison.asp

I agree. It could be mites. Treatment is simple though. Just make sure it is something safe to use on rabbits (as Bam said).

Theoretically, rabbits can contract COVID-19; however, this is based on laboratory exposure which does not generalize well to typical day-to-day interactions one would have with their rabbits: https://rabbit.org/covid-19/ . Please take general precautions with your rabbits as you would with other people and report any concerning symptom…[Read more]

No no no. Your bunny isn’t gonna get covid from you! I’ve had covid once or twice and my buns didn’t get it. My dad has had it once too. When we’ve had covid we’ve been all over our buns, hugging and kissing them, and they’ve been totally fine, so please don’t worry.

That’s really reassuring to hear. Thank you. I feel like it’s almost taboo to not do everything possible to bond, but I just feel like this isn’t the right time and it’s not what’s best for them right now. Monkey adores Tokki, but he’s kind of indifferent to her. He’s super social with us and her, but he just likes doing his own thing all the…[Read more]

@Bladesmith: sorry that I overlooked this, this new thread within a thread system is a bit confusing.
It must have been such a revelation to get a diagnosis! I hope that it’ll help you ^_^
Your plan for a shop is amazing, you make beautiful stuff! Wishing you all the best for this new year!

That’s so cute he licked your face!
My best advice for bonding with bunnies is to “play hard to get”. Since they are prey animals, being watched all the time makes them feel like they could be in danger. Hang out on the floor with him and just let him come to you and explore (and ignore him when he does). It sounds like you are doing all the…[Read more]

How long has it been since their spay/neuter?
Also, can you describe their litter box and cage set up?
There’s some detailed info on litter box training here: https://binkybunny.com/infocategory/litterbox-training/
I’ve noticed that pooping and peeing just outside the box can be due to the box being too small, or them sitting in the box and…[Read more]

Welcome and thank you for adopting this bunny!
Buns can definitely be a bit picky about pellets, especially if they are used to eating a brand that is more calorie-dense.
Here’s some info that will help you read the labels and decide: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Pellets
The main thing is to look for a pellet that has at least 18-20% fiber, so…[Read more]

Hi there, we have holland lop siblings (10 mo old) who are both fixed, have been litter box trained since an early age and live in a semi-free roam environment (out during the day, pen area at night). Recently our male bunny has been pooping more and having multiple accidents outside of the litter box. Luckily it’s all been within the pen area…[Read more]

It looks like it could be fur mites, cheyltiella parasitovorax.
It’s a very common parasite in rabbits. Luckily it’s easy to treat. Revolution (selamectin) spot-on or ivermectin (injections) are both bunny safe antiparasitics. They’re prescription only in most countries. Normally you do two rounds of treatment with some time apart.
(While we’re…[Read more]

Hello! I am currently changing my bunnies pellets too, but instead of them being picky it’s me, lol. I know oxbow, small pet select, and Sherwood are all good brands. I don’t know if those are available where you are though. You could try and add some herb mix to his pellets to try and make it more appetizing. Hay is the main part of their diet,…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss, how shocking and horrible. 🙁
Are you in an area with RHDV2? In any sudden death that is the first thing that comes to my mind. If you have other rabbits, they would be at risk as well because it’s extremely contagious. There is some info about it here:…[Read more]
