I didnt know that! I dont use Benebac myself, I use a UK brand called Protexin. Vet clinics here carry it, so it’s easily available to me.

A grooming request is also a dominance behavior, so she is behaving pretty clearly dominant. Owen didn’t groom back, but it’s really good that didn’t cause a fight. The little licks before mounting are also pretty normal. And it’s awesome that her mounting didn’t cause a fight!

Ahh bummer! Steps forward and back are pretty par for the course with bonding. I have never had any luck with small space bonding. My idea on this is that when an animal is frightened, their options are typically “fight or flight”. In a small space, they have no room to flee, so fighting happens quickly in many cases.

As long as it’s grass hay (no alfalfa mixed in) and seems fresh (doesn’t smell musty), then it’s fine!

I buy bales of hay for my buns (I have 4!) and they love it. Mine honestly snub the oxbow hay whenever I’ve had to get some in a pinch.
