        Hey everyone,

So for the past week my 2 year old spayed Holland lop has decided she wants to dig in her litter (which is fine I have a large, tall litter box) but my issue is recently she’s started flicking out all the hay into piles on the carpet and makes a huge mess. On top of that it encourages Bernard (8 month old male Holland lop) to use the washroom outside the litter box. I’m having to clean this multiple times a day, does anyone have any suggestions on what could cause this sudden change in behaviour and solutions!

If you don’t want digging in the litter box, I would suggest using a litter screen to keep the litter in place. As for the hay, could you use a hay rack? If you design it so they cannot get inside, but only pull a little hay out at a time, then it would be harder to string all over the place. Ideally, the hay rack would only be accessible from inside the litter box to encourage pooping/peeing in the box.

I agree that a litter box screen is probably the way to go! My buns do this too and the screen solves the problem.
