I have not personally experienced this, but I know there have been several members on the forum with bunnies that had teeth removed. I’m sure your bunny will be fine. There is always a risk with any surgery. But with an experienced rabbit vet, that risk should be extremely small, especially if your bunny is healthy otherwise.

    Hmmm, this is tricky.

To answer the question about what to put on heads to encourage grooming, I’ve used mashed banana with mixed success. I did have one bond where it worked a charm, so it could be worth a shot, especially at this point. It could be a little tricky if Tess comes in to get the banana and Penelope goes to nip her, so it might be…[Read more]

All of that sounds good to me! It’s very normal for there to be some back and forth. Sharing food is a great bonding activity. 🙂

Haha! Sounds good to me! Let the poop wars commence!

The flopping and binkying always cracks me up. I my interpretation is the bun is saying “look how much I’m not threatened by you”.

I think it’s worth a shot! You could at least do some shorter dates inside to try to keep the momentum going. I think when you start making progress (which you are) it’s good to try to do a date every day, even if it’s short.

If you notice right away they dynamic is really different, I would be very hands on and keep the date short.

Glenn and Ellie gave excellent advice, agree 100%. 🙂 I would give them some cool down time and more pre-bonding and see how they do! If no bun was injured in their fight then I think they have a good shot.

Give them time and ideally they’ll go for it when hungry enough. Did you change brands, type, etc…? Do you notice any significant difference from it than the old hay?

It is unusual for a spayed female to be humping — it suggests there’s still something generating hormonal behavior that we would not typically expect. It could be that the spay was not successful (i.e., not everything was removed), or you may have a hermaphrodite who has female and male parts, the latter of which is causing the hormonal…[Read more]

hi, I use water and vinegar also but thought i could add a little something to cut vinegar smell… i wouldn’t spray it directly on him but i use it to clean up pee accidents on his cloth cage liner… so he would walk on it if still wet sometimes… you think that would be very harmful to him?

I got new hay for Blossom and Thumper and they’re barely touching it. I tried putting some foraging mix on it but they only ate the mix so what else can I do to get them to eat it?

Hi, I adopted my rabbit, Luna, 3 years ago. She was spayed when she came to me (have seen documentation confirming it, and she had a shaved belly when I adopted her). She is the only rabbit in the house at this time. But she humps stuff a lot (her pet beds, my slipper, even if a blanket is crumpled up on the floor, she’ll hump it). She has done it…[Read more]

I don’t think a fight through the bars means that they wont bond, I’ve heard lots of stories where bonding has worked in spite of a fight.

First things to consider is how long ago they were spay and neutered, its advisable to wait at least 5 weeks after spay/neuter for hormones to die down befire begining any bonding or pre-bonding.

    In some…[Read more]

Bonding is a very stressful process for everyone, and there is no golden standard which works for every pair of rabbits. That makes it difficult.

We’re reintroducing a brother and sister after they’ve been neutered/spayed. They seemed really at ease with each other and even had some dates on non-neutral ground. It all seemed to go so well until…[Read more]

    Hello everyone,

I just took my bunny to the vet because he has to get his teeth removed due to overgrowth.

The vets told me there’s a small chance he could not make it because of anesthesia and although I know it’s a pretty low chance I’m still so worried and I’m scared i’ll lose him 🙁

Has anyone else got their bunny’s teeth removed? Ha…[Read more]

Oh this is so helpful to know — thank you so much, Bam!  Then I will try the CBD route first.  I’m so sorry it’s been illegalized where you are!!  That is just senseless. 🙁

Great that it made such a difference! It’s funny how we rabbit people can discuss the beauty of a poo like critics deconstruct a dish on Master Chef: “The shape is good, but I’d love a slightly different moisture content…” “Yes, there should be a little more fibre in there!” “So true, we prefer a crumbly consistency here.”

    Ah well, a chef’s…[Read more]
