Lac668 started the topic My bunny’s ears are down in the relaxed position all the time in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 2 months ago
I just got a Netherlandian dwarf bunny a couple weeks ago, and she’s still a baby. At first her ears did all kinds of motions like bunnies and rabbits do, but ever since this weekend it has seemed like she has kept her ears in the relaxed position on either side of her head, always. Is this normal? Is she just relaxed all the time, or could it s…[Read more]

MMmm started the topic One year old frequent stasis possible kidney problem? in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 2 months ago
Zimba is my 1 year old male rabbit. He had his first stasis in Feb. After giving him some leftover gut motility meds I had on hands, he was back to normal. We still went to see our exotic vet. X ray showed that his lungs were a bit hazy (he did have some occasional sneezes) and blood work showed his kidney values were border line high (him at 1.4… -

Yes, I am too. After the blood work and xray today I’m going to get a full record of her tests and will talk to the other vet no matter what and see what they think. I’ll update later when we have more info. Thanks again everyone!

I’m very sorry to hear about what you’re going through with your rabbit. At this point, veterinary assessment (likely imaging since it may be internal) would be my next step to get clarity on what exactly is going on. Her being perky and energetic now are great signs and argue against putting her to sleep, so getting a clear idea of what’s going…[Read more]

Hey. I am sorry you and yourbunny are going through this :(.
I don’t know too much about this type of issue but I am replying so hopefully others that might be able to help will be notified of this thread so you can hopefully get some advice.
If I were to try and advise I would suggest speaking to your rabbit vet about your concerns for their…[Read more]

Hi DanaNM,
Thanks for your reply. May I ask if your senior male bun has been neutered? My bun was neutered at around 8 months old and while it stopped his humping and spraying, it didn’t really do much for his aggression! He has always been a little jerk (sorry, I love him beyond words, but he’s kinda mean!). He does have his super sweet moments…[Read more]

She has a “spot” though like a dog and will lick me when I pet it, very cute.

Thank you all so much!! It means so much to hear from you all, and I really appreciate it.
I did try to see if I could very very very gently move his leg back into place, but it wouldn’t go easily and I was afraid of hurting him, so I decided to just wait for the vet on that. It’s very helpful to hear some possible causes for all this — t…[Read more]

There’s a new development, and I have no idea how to deal with this.
Molly and Owen had a string of outdoor dates where Molly was very dominant, and she did a lot of chasing and humping.
Now when we have a session Owen thumps and runs away from Molly often. He does a sort of whimper and runs: he suddenly went full chicken.
He’s not grooming her…[Read more]

Thanks for the comment. 🙂 Had to look it up haha but a gallon is 3.78 litres. But yes this is the most expensive ever. It’s insane. I know the EU, UK, Australia and the like always had high gas prices, but here in the US it’s always been rather cheap unless you lived in like Cali, New York, etc. but it was still much cheaper then it is…[Read more]

I’ve spent a lot of time with mine out in her play pen but no luck other then some pets, albeit she really loves them and even has a “spot” like a dog and will lick me everytime i hit it, then when i stop the licks stop, it’s really cute.
I do feed her in her small cage which is in her play pen and is what i used to take her inside to transfer…[Read more]

I know. It’s still inching upward here in Australia. 😥 Im likely to stuff up the Aus-US $ and litre to gallon conversions so I won’t bother. But its highest it’s been in 7 years, I believe.
Mmm, Thumperbelle?
Thumper sounds a pretty unisex name for a rabbit, to be honest.“She doesn’t mind being pet, but yeah any kind of trying to pick her up, p…[Read more]

Welcome back!
This is really interesting and unusual! So, I have a senior male bun who has tended to show an uptick in hormonal behaviors as he’s gotten older, and I know that’s not uncommon. I wonder if his “hormonal” behaviors are manifesting as aggresion??
Do you know if his vision has gotten worse? I’m wondering if maybe he can’t see that…[Read more]

I don’t mean to sow too much doubt in your vet, I’m just wondering if a second opinion (especially if you can find a specialist) would be helpful at this stage to hopefully get some answers.

Most rabbits don’t like being held or cuddled on laps, so that’s pretty normal. Even the ones who haven’t lived in the wild are still prey animals by nature so being caught and held can be very scary for them. Most of my buns really like to be petted when I sit on the floor with them, and one will jump on the couch for snuggles. 🙂
For going…[Read more]
