Tbh I don’t know what’s best, I can barely tell sugar from shite after a week like this 🤣

All I know is that I’m happy that he’s eating on his own ^_^

Update- thanks for your advice! I decided to take her and attempt bonding. Lots of territorial disputes despite being in a neutral space. I did small introductions for a few days, and it seemed like they weren’t making much progress. If she hadn’t been elderly, I would have continued small play dates every day because I know it’s not typical for…[Read more]

For sure!  I’m sure that’s a good plan; please of course do what you think best.  🙂

Hi everyone, My make bunny seems to be molting because his poops have been linked together and he has a V shape on his head. I have been brushing him everyday for a week straight, but now i went to go check his bottom back and he has a big bald spot, his skin is pink. Is this normal for molting?

Yes, I’d take it very slowly. I’d leave the pellets in their own bags, and add one of the new pellets to her bowl every day.

That’s how I switched our bunnies off junior pellets, and it went without a problem.

@Meg: that’s a very different number indeed! I was told to make the CC runny, so he’d get enough fluids. And then feed him little bits every 3-4 hours.

Search up “hunched bunny in pain”, the rabbit lady has a good photo. It can sometimes be mistaken for loafing so if your rabbit has other signs such as squinting it’s eyes, grinding it’s teeth, not wanting to move, I would call up a rabbit savvy vet to figure out what’s going on. Has he been eating and pooping fine?

I didn’t really get what you meant by the bags but I think oxbow has instructions on their bag as to how u can help transition. I would personally do it over the course of a month, mix about 10% new pellets with 90% old then next week 25% new with 75% old then the third week 50% new 50% old and the last week 75% new 25% old. Make sure to have an e…[Read more]

    Thank you for the replies!
She seems to be doing a little better after two doses, massages, and getting her to move around a bit.

I did not know meloxicam was hard on the tummy, just that it can cause issues to the kidneys. I will ask my vet about that. She is molting and unfortunately I haven’t been able to groom her properly, just pluck at th…[Read more]

I’m so glad he’s eating and pooping again and I hope his mouth feels better soon!!

FWIW, that is a lot of feedings!  I used to do 4-6 per day until coming to our current vet, who says 3 per day when not eating is OK, or 2 per day if eating a bit on their own.  Then stasis treatment got a lot more doable on our end.  Of course do what you think is…[Read more]

He just finished his SECOND bowl of soaked pellets within a couple of hours! He’s hungry alright… That seems to conform my suspicion that he has problems while chewing.

Thanks for all the support Dana, Meg, and Bam! You do tend to go crazy on a week of 3 hour naps and constant worrying 😵 I’m just so happy that he’s off CC now: now it’s just…[Read more]

    Poop 💃💃💃

Fingers so crossed for more poop and a hearty appetite! Pain relief is often the most vital part of stasis treatment according to my (rabbit savvy) vet.

He does seem a bit too young for dental problems, but it does occur. Wick’s Wick is an example of that. He needed several burrs to set his bite straight. Trauma to the teeth or getting…[Read more]

Meloxicam is often hard on the tummy, especially with prolonged used. Famotidine (brand name pepcid) can help with that. It’s an OTC med, but it comes in the form of pills, so it needs to be dissolved in water and dosed with a syringe. You could ask the vet that’s prescribing the meloxicam and gabapentin.

Is she molting? The most common cause for…[Read more]

Yay for Molly coming out of her shell! And Blossom too!

I just took my two to the vet for their first rhd vaccine. It was less an ordeal than it could be, but poor Miu just doesn’t do well. It doesn’t help she’s not as bonded with me as Dorian is.  He was not happy mind you, but he took his treat and the gave me a foot flick (and then came back…[Read more]

I don’t think those differences in personality are a problem at all in terms of their happiness. It’s also pretty hard to predict how a rabbit’s personality may develop over time in a new home.

Bonding a quad is a lot of work (as is having four rabbits in general). Not trying to discourage you necessarily, just saying don’t feel pressured to add…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Re-bonding 2 girls after emergency vet visit fallout in the forum BONDING 4 years, 1 month ago

It’s hard to know how it would go with the girls. Some buns will just have 1 issue after the vet that gets resolved, then they never have a fallout again. Others might have more issues.

As to whether to go for the trio or a pair, you could do a test date with all 3 and see how it goes, and/or do dates between each of the girls and your new boy…[Read more]

Mylicon is one brand name that makes simeticone. If it says its simethicone as the active ingredient, then it should be safe to use!
