Perhaps he just got a piece stuck to the roof of his mouth. It sounds like he is fine to me. And yes, it seems pellets are most often the cause.

In this case a good note would be something like ignoring each other or at least a pause in the mounting.

Hmm, yeah that is tricky. I’m really not sure, because it’s pretty rare for buns to be in this tolerance phase for so long without fighting. If possible, you could try taking them to a friend’s house and see how they do in a completely neutral space?

Recovery from stasis can be slow, and the fact that he’s eating a little on his own and pooping a little are great signs.
