I still may try these… I really do prefer paper pellet litter for her as there’s no issue of scent.

Thank you. I do use the screen setup already and I love it. It’s such a great system.

Thank you….Their paper pellets are probably the closest I’ll get to what she was using.
I let the bag of Oxbow Eco straw pellets air out a couple days and have been using some of that now. It seems ok as far as I don’t think it is making things worse and the smell has lessened to a degree it’s hardly noticable at all. This really isn’t a b…[Read more]

These were dustier than the brand I used for our previous bunny and so much more potent in the smell. It actually made my eyes water when I opened the bag. I went ahead and tried it since it’s the same brand the Tampa Bay Rabbit Rescue uses and many people here. I truly think there was something wrong with this batch as I’m sure it’s not the norm…[Read more]

Because she was so very young when this started originally, our vets didn’t think it was necessary to do scams of her sinuses and teeth. We did discuss this later but cost ruled it out for us, plus we would have to travel a distance with her. At the time our vet was going to check on cost and a facility, Charlie pretty much finally stopped after c…[Read more]

Hey guys,
I’m in desperate need of your help! I just got a second bunny yesterday, my first was a bit of a rescue and he was already a few months when I go him. However, my new rabbit is just over 7 weeks (I now know that this is frowned upon, so please don’t judge me, I just wasn’t aware) and the breeder I got her from didn’t give me any informa…[Read more]

Bunnies were able to do overnight with a lot of success! Throughout the day yesterday, everyone seemed to be ignoring each other, so I was worried fights would break out tonight when they actually started communicating. Interestingly, it seems like Sage has decided he’s the new top bun and Salem seems to be accepting it? For now at least. There’s…[Read more]

Perhaps he just got a piece stuck to the roof of his mouth. It sounds like he is fine to me. And yes, it seems pellets are most often the cause.

I have a 9 month old male Holland Lop (first bunny) and he’s very curious and sweet but he spends almost all of his time sleeping (flopped or loafed) and has almost no interest in toys.
I keep trying to get him to exercise more by running around the room with him for little treats or trying to teach him tricks and I’ve gotten him so many toys but…[Read more]

Oz_TheGreat replied to the topic GI stasis / surgery recovery in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 1 month ago
As per the last update I have received over the phone, Oz seems more physically active. He is still reluctant to eat and is far from pooping at a healthy rabbit level, but he is exploring their backyard when they let him outside and appears to be more mobile. Because of this increase in activity level the vet seems to think that surgery may be too…[Read more]

In this case a good note would be something like ignoring each other or at least a pause in the mounting.
I wonder if you could give Glenn a stuffy that smelled like her to help him get some of the mounting out of his system?

Sounds like a good plan! It’s def OK to take breaks for sleeping! (it can be good for the buns too!)

DanaNM replied to the topic Beyond desperate for help in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 1 month ago
Hmm, yeah that is tricky. I’m really not sure, because it’s pretty rare for buns to be in this tolerance phase for so long without fighting. If possible, you could try taking them to a friend’s house and see how they do in a completely neutral space?

DanaNM replied to the topic GI stasis / surgery recovery in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 1 month ago
So, I would be hesitant to resort to any surgery if he is eating and pooping at all. Recovery from stasis can be slow, and the fact that he’s eating a little on his own and pooping a little are great signs. Also antibiotics aren’t used to treat EC, so I’m a bit confused by that (and gas in the stomach isn’t an EC symptom). Maybe they were…[Read more]

At around 14 hours I actually took a pause because I was sleep deprived and getting anxious that they would fight while I was sleeping and I’d intervene too late. The chasing and scuffles were beginning. Starting up again soon. I’m thinking I may stick with bonding during the day time because I didn’t anticipate quite how much the sleep…[Read more]
