How long does it take until a rabbit gives birth? One of the females is getting quite fat and is putting on weight but she isn’t building a nest or biting fur from her belly. I can’t feel any nipples on her belly either.

Okay, that makes me feel SO much better!!! I was really concerned I was feeding her too little. Believe it or not, about two minutes ago she ate a few pieces of lettuce on her own and ate a few more when I put more down :,) and she was chewing on her seagrass ball! Thank you so much for the comfort, all!

10 -15 mL at a time is actually quite good IMO! My vet would have me do 12 mL, 3 times a day for a bun that wasn’t eating. You don’t need to feed overnight, because buns need to sleep too.
Keep offering her a variety of fresh herbs and greens and shoving hay in her face. The first 48 hours are the hardest! You got this!

That is a very good point about lighting! I was also thinking that having it more dim might help but that makes a lot of sense about contrast!

Thanks for answering and for the advice! I got her some pain medication this morning, and I will be giving it to her again tonight if she continues to grind. As for the feeding, she has eaten one piece of hay (kind of ridiculous lol) but no other food besides that. I’ve tried pretty much everything to keep her calm to feed her, but she hates being…[Read more]

Hi Bam, thanks so much for taking the time to reply! Your message offered a lot of reassurance which I needed. It definitely moves around when you feel it, as you press it moves from under your finger if that makes sense. It’s also round and even in shape/feel. Whatever happens, it sounds like we took the best step forward with the fine needle…[Read more]

Hi all! I’m new to bunnies so I really need all the advice I can get. My girl Thelma was spayed yesterday (I got her home around 4 pm and its now 6 am the next day). Before anything else- Thelma does NOT like to be held or touched. Without going into the long and sad backstory, she was bought by a neglectful family member and was not socialized…[Read more]

jerseygirl replied to the topic suggestions for hay boxes in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 4 years, 1 month ago
Mmm⊠my advice is donât buy pricey items until after you have your rabbits and know what their individual habits are like. Save that money for future vet visits!
The hay boxes do look really nice and might help control the hay a bit but it will only take one industrious rabbit to create hay havoc! I spent half a day fashioning a hay holder and…[Read more]

jerseygirl replied to the topic Moving from house to apartment – what are some ways I can house my buns? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 4 years, 1 month ago
Remember that rabbits do spend a good portion of the day sleeping, so try not to feel too bad if theyâre shut away sometimes. A safe place is important where that can nap. I recall my original pair disappeared into a box 10am-3pm daily, despite having whole house to free roam.
Do you think a trio could be an option? That would help on the h…[Read more]

Iâm so sorry you had that experience with the pet sitter. đ The timing does look like itâs somewhat related.
It wouldnât hurt to get her on a probiotic. It may help and certainly wonât harm.
Rabbits can get a bit out of sorts when coming into a molt so Iâm curious if you do see more obvious signs of mooting soon. Sheâs also at the age bunny h…[Read more]

Iâve seen this occasionally also. If heâs poop is generally looking healthy otherwise, then I donât  think youâd need to be overly worried (is that possible having rabbits?!).
My theory is it a cecal it two left behind in the rectum and they make their way out when next load of regular fecal poops come along. 😄
I believe there are some conditio…[Read more]

Iâm glad heâs enjoying being loved on and spa treatment. ☺️

The increased hay-eating as you start panacur must put your mind at ease. Fingers crossed the panacur can make a difference. Iâm envious you can get apple flavoured!
(((Bun Jovi)))Good tip about lighting, LBJ. It could help distinguish contrast.
