I’m sorry BZOO. It sounds like you gave her a good life. It’s hard when you don’t know exactly how old they are.

Maybe something simple like a car ride together? I agree with Wick that it is probably just something they need to work out. It probably doesn’t hurt to facilitate that a little bit.

I was going to ask about pain meds too. They are more likely to eat on their own when their pain in being properly managed. It sounds like she is interested in eating now, so that’s definitely a good sign!

If they are bored, you could see if they enjoy tossing things. Perhaps they do if they were moving the litter box around.
Hard plastic is generally considered safe because it is difficult for a bunny to actually gnaw a piece off. They will scratch the plastic with their teeth, but chunks don’t come off. Popular items include baby keys and baby…[Read more]

We have a free range indoor bunny and will hopefully moving house in a couple of months. Whats the best way to introduce Mr Bun to his new home? He has his cage with litterbox in our lounge but we dont lock him in, its more a central safe spot for him to find treats and keep mess in one spot. Should I put his cage in a smaller room first with…[Read more]

It seems like he’s moving normally and he comes when I offer food and I haven’t noticed him licking it. He puts it on the ground as normal.

Found one of Guinea Pigs passed away this morning when I went to give them their morning bell peppers.
She was a Craigslist rehome, so no idea on her age. We also have her sister, Jaydyn and Jamie from rescue. I’m at least glad they know she’s gone and had time to say goodbye.
She was always a skittish girl, hated being handled. But was a sw…[Read more]

Update after a week: cutting his pellet portion by half (with protexin making for half of hi current portion) and very limited amount of fresh stuff (always the same 3 things in small portions) seems to help a bit. He’s basically eating a loooot of hay, and drinks quite really nice amount too. Less excess cecotropes globally and they are more…[Read more]

Does it seem like he is hurt? Like, does he move normally, or does he avoid putting weight on the paw? Does he hold the paw up in the air (to avoid putting pressure on it)? Is he licking the paw? Will he come hopping for eat a pellet and take it if you offer one?

I keep my rabbit in my front yard and he got out for a few seconds. I got impatient when getting him back in, and jumped on his front paw accidentally. He doesn’t appear to be limping so I’m hoping I just hit his claws. Should I take him to the vet, call them, or nothing?

Toilet rolls stuffed with hay, I have started putting some herbs on the middle, they really like that. I have a forage mat too I use sometimes. I’ll hide some pellets or herbs in or even just a pile of hay with the herbs sprinkled in. Its a little messy but they really enjoy it.
I also try to rotate their toys, I have a box of balls, chew sticks,…[Read more]

It’s hard to advise remotely, but my gut is if it’s not full-on fights, it may be a spat that needs to be worked out. Sometimes these things happen. If you could supervise, perhaps restriction to a smaller space so you can easily intervene as they communicate with each other could work?

Above should provide good guidance on post-op care and timelines. In general, males need less time (5 days usually) since their neuters are much less invasive than female spays.

NetherPixie replied to the topic suggestions for hay boxes in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 3 years, 12 months ago
I made one out of a cardboard box. I just taped it up then cut a whole at the top for the hay to go in and then cut three squares on the side where they could pull the hay out. Seems to be working great. I wanted to try it before I bought something expensive since by buns hate hay holders for the most part. I wanted to try to waste less hay and…[Read more]
