Is the skin flaky at all? As Wick said, it could be from drooling. But if it’s dry and rough, it could be a skin infection. Fungal infections can sometimes present this way.

Considering the location, it is more likely related to something moisture-driven, such as drool from the mouth (common when dental irritation occurs) or soaked chin from drinking water facilitating a fungal infection/fur loss in general.

We got some atbx and meloxicam for pain. They also send an ointment for her. They don’t recommend an e collar since the location of the wound is on her neck. If wound and URI does not improve after two weeks, I might consider a surgery for that dewlap that they suggest.
