Looking for anyone with experience with this. I’ve posted about Snuggles before, mostly labeled it incontinence, as it is most of the time, or loose stools, which it is sometimes. But sometimes she also discharges jelly-like mucous that I’m now reading about. She’s not a young rabbit like most of those afflicted with it. She also seems to have the…[Read more]

I was just going to back up @DanaNM’s point on the ACV in the water – Freya pees a LOT and the smell is quite strong even now but when she hit puberty the smell would be suffocating as I would try to sleep. It was suggested to me on here to try a bit of ACV in the water and it did help so might be worth a try!

Thank you DanaNM!!  Yep, the flax was to help her gain weight. My vet did recommend the fibre plex, but it was the liquid form, not the pellets and I am not sure if their the same thing. the immunize vitamins may be something that just exists locally and not in other countries so I will get that checked by the vet next month when i bring her for…[Read more]

I’d take him in if he hasn’t started to eat and poop by the time of the appointment. He’s probably a bit dehydrated, and could perhaps need his gut started with a motility drug.

Going to the vet can be stressful for a bun, but there are things you can do to make it less stressful. You can f ex ask f you can wait in the car with him, and not in a…[Read more]

Baytril is commonly prescribed for URIs. Unfortunately, it’s a guessing game when it comes to antibiotics. You don’t know what bacteria is causing the problem or what it is sensitive to. Cultures are possible, but they aren’t usually something that is done right away (and they aren’t always reliable). Typically, a vet will prescribe a…[Read more]

Thank you so much for your informative response! Is there a particular antibiotic that’s considered most effective for upper respiratory infections? I’m also concerned at the short course of antibiotics. My vet also noted something about not wanting to risk stasis by prescribing beyond a week (initially) but it looks my bunny will definitely need…[Read more]

Sorry I couldn’t follow up on this, got busy at work!

If he isn’t 100% back to normal by the appointment tomorrow I would take him in just to be sure. I tend to disagree with the person you got him from… assuming the vet is rabbit savvy. A non-rabbit savvy vet can do more harm that good.

I’m glad things seem to be moving again. Drinking is…[Read more]

I just ordered some memory foam bath mats for her to try to help with the environment thing. I already have sheepette in the pen, but I’m going to try adding the memory foam underneath the spot she likes to sleep the most, as well as a few other areas in the room where she likes to hang out. The trouble is she can chew mats sometimes, so I’m…[Read more]

Hmm… 7 days is a bit short for a course of antibiotics. Sometimes vets will start out with 7 days, do a re-check, and then decide if they should continue or switch to a different antibiotic. But to just do 7 days and then stop, you run the risk of the bacteria that was being knocked back being able to recover and come back. From my experience,…[Read more]

My solo free-roam bunny started having symptoms of snuffles over a week ago (he’s 5 and has never had symptoms of it prior to this). I took him to the vet the day following me noticing his symptoms. His eyes cleared with drops within a few days, but his nose has been running since then, even on a steady course of antibiotics (he’s been on them…[Read more]

I do think he was just playing hard to get, I took into account your pointers and within a week, he was climbing all over me and comes to me when I call his name. It was like that one day something clicked in his head that I’m not going to hurt him and we’ve been getting closer, so thank you!

Since he’s ignoring his toys, then they are not considered toys. Like children, rabbit have their own personal tastes. I recommend experimenting with different toy presentations, like attaching things to the pen wall perhaps.

Getting a sheet to put on the outside of the pen to create the illusion of a wall is also helpful at times.

If she takes treats and is active, I think she’ll be ok. Advantage is considered very safe for rabbit, but it can cause itching esp around the site of application. This can of course be frustrating for the rabbit since she cant reach to scratch the application site if its at the nape of the neck/between the shoulderblades. That could be why she’s…[Read more]

Yes most of them, she ate 2 rose petals. But she’s still not AS responsive as usual. I usually put my hand down next to her and she will put her head in that direction. She’s not doing that. She gets up, either scratches herself or digs (she digs when she’s mad), then lays back down with those half shut eyes (they usually get when they are sleeping).

Fingers crossed for Buster! Hopefully you’ll soon see some poop. They might be a bit irregular in shape, size and/or color, but that is very common after a gut disturbance and it will right itself if he starts eating properly, esp hay, again.

Oh, I’m glad! Then she should be fine, severe side effects are rare. Is she still refusing a treat?
