Thank you so much for your detailed and useful advice!!!
If you don’t mind, may I ask for a 4 years old rabbit, what test(s) is(are) needed before the procedure?

No essential oils are safe for rabbits. Can you find where the ants are coming in? The simplest solution would be exclusion. Seal up the hole or crack they are crawling through.

Dana gave good advice. Talk to the vet and ask questions. Make sure they have experience. Rabbits have different requirements than a cat or dog.

Poor thing. An issue deeper inside was my first thought when I saw the picture. Yes, for abscesses, it isn’t unusual to prescribe an injection and an oral antibiotic at the same time.

What kind of bunny is he? Deafness is relatively common in Holland lops. They can be born deaf or hard of hearing.
You could try some experiments to see if he responds to sounds. Try something unusual, like a party horn to see if he perks up the first time he hears it. Or you can try clapping your hands when his back is turned to you. These are…[Read more]

I would like to know if my bunny might be losing his hearing. I shake their hay and treat bag but he doesn’t respond. He doesn’t respond to a lot of loud noises however he’s always been like that. Except for the times I threw up earlier this year due to a stomach bug. Those noises really scared him. But now he doesn’t seem to respond to much. My…[Read more]

Also, Théo lives in the livingroom which I’m not verry often. Maybe I could move him to my room but he might climb on the bed or run back to the living room everytime he can. Litter traing has also been very hard with him. Lots of poop on the floor, he doesn’t eat all his cecotrope, not an easy bunny at all ….
I’ve had to pick him up a lot at…[Read more]

Ok thank you for the recommendations.
An update on his vet appt:
The vet flushed the mucus out with saline solution and some came out of his nose. Apparently, he has a abscessed tear duct, the cause unknown but the vet says it could be dental issues. He was prescribed an antiobitoic eye drop (2x a day), Meloxicam for pain (2x), penicillin, and…[Read more]

Hi yall, me again… Unfortunatly …
Here’s the situation, with my previous bunny, I could pet him literally 3 days after I got him…. I now own my new rabbit since Maui died and Théo ( The new one) is really independant it seems. I can tell I’ve spent less time with him. But none the less, it’s been 2-3 months and yet, her runs aways every t…[Read more]

Plain neosporin (without a painkiller added) can be used on buns, as well as fucidic acid (fucithalmic). If the problrm os purely dermal, this will help. I’ve used fucidic acid pn my buns.
From what I can find, castor oil is harmless.

Thanks for your reply. So, I shouldn’t have put the castor oil? I did and it kind of opened up but it still crusty and discharge but less swollen this morning.
What antiobiotics ointments and painkillers do you recommend? On hand, I have Nepafenac and Ketorlac eye drops. I’ll try to purchase one without borax, thank you.

Update!
Earlier I checked under the litter box again and instead of ants I saw tiny fleas, the same size as the tiny ants. They’re probably there for the rabbits’ poo, and I tried sweeping them away too without trying to harm them. I heard that cinnamon can be used as an air freshener to keep the flies away, as well as lavender, eucalyptus,…[Read more]

Thanks again for your advice! We are still wondering what does it mean that our bunnies seem to be so good friends in their separate cages (lying side by side and curiously stuffing their noses through the bars ears up) but they still start to fight when put together. Do they just start to get annoyed when the other bunny refuses to submit?

Diatomaceous earth and or borax will keep ants at bay, but dont use it directly on the buns or where the buns can get at it. Diatomaceous earth is non toxic to buns, but its not good if inhaled or ingested in significant amounts.

Thank you, that makes me feel better! I was thinking 42” would be sufficient for my Holland Lop? Or higher would be safer?
