That’s a very interesting method! I’m a bit surprised she would separate them when they scuffled. That is basically teaching them that fighting will make the other rabbit go away, so it could have been reinforcing the scuffling. Everyone has their own ways of bonding so to each their own, but that’s not the way I would do it!
I think you should…[Read more]

Just did a first short treatment! He seemed very relaxed during it. I also recently learned about the “grimace scale” for rabbits through that facebook group which has been really helpful in assessing his comfort level. His nose looked especially relaxed during the treatment. Here are two versions of the scales for…[Read more]

If it were me, I wouldn’t feed cabbage either. If your bunny just has pellets to eat for a day, it won’t be the end of the world. Spread them out thoughout the day and give a little extra. Keep an eye out for any signs of upset. Some bunnies are more sensitive than others.

Oh, that sounds interesting. You’ll definitely have to let us know if it works. I think that would be helpful information to have.

Yes, we are going to need more information. How long have they been neutered? And what methods are you currently using?

How long have they been neutered for, and where are you introducing them? Bonding is a process that often takes a couple weeks to months and generally starts with short dates in smaller, neutral territory, and then over time making the dates longer and neutral space bigger as they safely figure out a hierarchy.

We had a bunny for a year, he has full run of the house and started chewing carpet and tipping wallpaper etc, we didn’t realise bunnies aren’t meant to be on their own, so we bought a 2nd boy. All went well for the first 6 weeks then they started humping, which eventually led to circling, then fighting. Only one injury, more loss of fur! Got both…[Read more]

The bonder was doing smaller space bonding and I feel like my two just can’t handle that however in my own home I’m struggling with finding a large neutral space for them. I can try my bathroom floor (though it’s not v big) and see how that goes down? I’d only done bathtub sessions with “bunny magic” in the summer and while I’ve been prebonding si…[Read more]

Yes, good point! Heat can “fire up” an active infection, so that’s important to keep in mind, both for hooms and pets.
White is a “safe” color, it’s dark color that can cause a problem. Probably because dark absorbs heat, so the setting must be lower. Effi was dark. But you will know, he willflinch if he hatesit and short time exposure wont be…[Read more]

Yes good point! I read that in the reviews so I’m glad that our vet said it should be fine to try. 🙂 I’m happy that our vet is willing to work with us to help him be more comfortable.

I was able to find these small mesh cube grids that would work great if you are worried about her getting stuck in bars! They are a bit smaller than the typical grids, and you can connect them with small cable ties. I think they look pretty nice as well! I hear they are popular for making DIY rat cages.
I wrote about them here:…[Read more]

Oh nice, infrared really helps my rheumatic illness too. It’s great for relaxing muscles and loosening stiff joints.
An active infection is a contraindication, because the heat can speed up the infection process. As long as he’s free of those it’s very therapeutic.

Aw that’s a bummer! I wonder what techniques the bonder is trying? It would be good to get some info on what her strategy is.
I’ve just quickly skimmed back through your thread, my memory is that you were making some progress with them during shorter dates at home? If that’s the case then I would go back to that strategy! Sometimes bunnies just…[Read more]

Thanks! Yeah this product wasn’t very expensive… it was the same price as a single acupuncture treatment would be, so I felt OK trying it out.
Bun Jovi is white, I’m not sure if it has other settings for fur color but I will definitely read the manual. I know it has 1 setting for skin related issues and another for deep tissue.

Infra red will warm and that in itself will be soothing. Cold laser doesnt warm in itself, but it activates “stuff” in the tissue so the patient can feel local warming.
Idk what color Bun Jovi is, but normally cold laser for use on animals has a special lower, setting for dark fur animals. (My dog Effi had cold laser therapy for her really ba…[Read more]
