So I think after reading about how chloramphenicol can be hazardous to human health I’ve decided to opt for Pencillin G injections, the vet will set up an appointment to show me how, as opposed to chloramphenicol. They are still waiting to hear back from Cornell University on the price of the C-T if this can be done. We are going to try it at a…[Read more]

Ooh that’s so frustrating! This is not an uncommon problem… I think I even saw a comic about it the ever expanding litter box.
Is he able to reach his hay while standing outside the box? One of my rabbits would pee where-ever she could reach the hay, so I had to be sure the hay rack was only accessible when she was sitting fully inside the box.…[Read more]

If she’s biting the cage bars a lot at night it sometimes helps to hang a sheet or towel over the wall. Something about the visual barrier makes them less obsessed with it. You can also mount a grass or paper mat on the cage wall to give something “constructive” to chew. She will get used to the routine in time though!

Ok great! Yes if it’s just a home base and they get exercise in a larger area then that’s fine. 🙂

Ana William replied to the topic Gentamicin / Betamethasone Topical Spray for Rabbits? in the forum DIET & CARE 3 years, 3 months ago
Gentamicin and betamethasone are both commonly used in veterinary medicine, and they can be effective in treating certain types of skin infections and inflammation in rabbits. However, it’s important to use these medications as directed by your veterinarian, as they can have potential side effects if used improperly.
It’s true that rabbits have a…[Read more]

Ana William replied to the topic nose discharge? in the forum DIET & CARE 3 years, 3 months ago
It sounds like your bunnies may have some nasal congestion. Snot or discharge from the nose can be caused by a variety of things, including respiratory infections, allergies, or even just a reaction to changes in temperature or humidity. If the snot is only in one side of the nose, it could be a sign of a foreign object or a abscess. Since you…[Read more]

Hello!
We have 2 bonded rabbits. A male/female pair both around 7 years. Both spayed/nurtured at least 4 years ago. They have been bonded and living together full time going on 3 years now without any relationship issues. At the start our male rabbit, previously having really good litter habits, ramped up the territorial pooping and even now after…[Read more] -

Welcome Eclipse!
Young bunny energy is quite different from adult bun energy, but as you are saying, it is rather uplifting, in its own inconvenient way 😄
Some buns benefit greatly from having a smaller space to begin with -say 5 sq meters/53 sq ft. One explanation for this would be that it offers the bun a sense of control over a new…[Read more]

Thank youu it’s been a TON of work already but it’s also very uplifting. Thank you for the advice, I let her out once again in my room making sure nothing dangerous is available, she did manyyyy binkies and zoomies, even licked me so I think it’s safe to say she’s not very anxious right now. And yes…peeing incidents…I remember those with Ra…[Read more]

True, I think in Budja’s case an open incision probably won’t go down to well, she is notoriously difficult, she tolerates me feeling around the area currently but not for long before she is popcorning on me or jumping, or trying to swat me. So I’m thinking an open incision might be a tad worse with this, not too sure. She get’s very spooked very…[Read more]

Now try vacuuming the floor a foot away from him while he sleeps. Haha! (This was a common occurrence with my bun. That vacuum would be going and he would be sawing logs.)

Sometimes they do just have to leave it open. It looks horrid, but sometimes it’s the only way. I’m glad you asked about the beads though. It’s good to keep your options open. A good vet is also not afraid to try new things. Mine is always willing to “experiment”. Perhaps you could try a combination of antibiotics? Sometimes vets will pair an oral…[Read more]

Some buns are just really sensitive, unfortunately. My Bunston was like this, where he would just get these random “attacks” of poor appetite and gut slowing. You could try going on a hay-only diet for a while to see if that helps? Some buns are sensitive to pellets or a specific green, or a specific pellet ingredient. Or you could go hay-only…[Read more]

Sorry for the late reply! I had a virus on my laptop and it couldn’t be fixed until recently. It’s more of a “home base”, unless it’s too hot or cold. Like I said they mostly play in the basement when the weather is just right. I have 2 buns but had to separate them since my girl was making sure my boy didn’t get any hay and am trying to re-bond…[Read more]

Awww I’m so happy to hear you got another bun! <3 Eclipse is a lucky rabbit indeed!
So, it kind of depends on the rabbit. Some are very timid and feel safer with less space to start. The logistical things to think about with how much space to give and when are litter box training and bunny proofing. Baby rabbits will get into A LOT more stuff…[Read more]

So sorry for the late reply! My laptop had a virus on it and I couldn’t get it fixed until recently. I tried calling his name and used the clicker. Nothing. He turned towards me once but I think that was just coincidence. I tried clicking many times just to make sure.

So, yesterday we brought home a new member of the family, Eclipse. They’re a 12 week old Dutch rabbit, the people we got them from couldn’t tell what gender. It’s been a week since Rain passed away and after lots and LOTS of reflection, I decided my love for Rain would not ever fade or be “replaced” by giving love to another rabbit as well. And…[Read more]
