Fritter parent Avern started the topic Say hello to my newest member of the family in the forum THE LOUNGE 3 years, 2 months ago

His name is Blackberry (berry or little bear for short) and he is fritters Hus-bun he was adopted from a local small pet rescue and he is an absolute delight. As far as I can tell he is a mini Rex so he has the softest fur imaginable and is smol and is impossible to photograph because it seems like all light get absorbed into his black fur.…[Read more]

Thank you so much for the advice I was able to go to a local small pet shelter in my area that offered speed dating (monitored by an expert which really eased my nerves) and as soon as they placed Fritter with the first bun she showed all of the positive signs (ignoring each other no chasing grooming themselves eating near each other with no…[Read more]

Oh ya its top soil not potting soil so it doesn’t have any fertilizers in (other than the ones she contributed) I was just wondering if I could use something like baby wipes to clean her up some.

Two separated rabbits can use the larger room in rotation (not at the same time). Just keep in mind that becomes semi neutral territory since they’ve both had exposure to it so it can bring up territorial spats once together.

Its hard to realize that we went through this on the same weekend just a week ago.
Spike was going to suffer if I didn’t make the decision to let the vet euthanize him. She had offered to have a group visit my home as you did, but I decided, while I had him there in my arms, to not risk him passing alone anywhere else (the carrier, in the night)…

    Thank you for your reply!

I didn’t know that about not doing syringe feedings at night! (I was doing them.) And now I am worried that by doing them that I caused some kind of setback. šŸ™

He is really confusing me at this point. Yesterday, he ate bites of carrot so I KNOW he can eat/chew. Not even 12 hours later, he shows no interest. The day…[Read more]

Oh, great that he wasn’t in actual stasis! And that he found the carrot just too delicious to resist 😃 Wonderful that there were no squeeky chewing sounds!

Rabbits do need their rest, my rabbit vet always says not to do syringe feeding during the night for this reason. The amount of CC a rabbit needs per day can definitely seem staggering at…[Read more]

Hi again and thanks for the well wishes!

The vet said that my bun was not in stasis but he needed to be fed more and less often. So, a full syringe of food every 6 hours, as bunny needs time to rest too. I am under the impression that a lot of filing was done because the vet said my bunny still needed time to rest to recover.

    I have provided him…[Read more]

    Binky free, Bun Jovi 💔

A very, very special bun, I didnt know you adopted him at age 9! He really does look like a baby in many of the pics, he must’ve been young at heart! 14 is an amazing life span for a bun, I’m glad he got 5 of them with you!

The pear tree is a lovely idea! My Vilde has a pot of dandelions on his resting place. It feels good…[Read more]

    Thank you <3

We adopted him when he was 9! But yes he always had the baby look, we could hardly believe his age when we adopted him. We were lucky to have had as many years with him as we did, I often wonder about his life before us. I know he was returned to the shelter THREE times, which I just can’t fathom. I think it often had to do with him…[Read more]

I wonder if the narrator was referring to Psoroptes Cuniculi (ear mite) and shortened that to ā€œP. cuniculiā€ because that would sound VERY similar.

I remember Oreo and Blu. I’m glad to read they did spend the majority of their long lives together. It’s such a head time on our hearts and psyche, making those final decisions for our beloved fur companions. It’s such a internal war going back and forth on what is right. It does sound like this time was right to help help go peacefully and I do…[Read more]

Pam, I am so sorry you had to say goodbye to your dear boy. This is so sad. Why must they get old?
Spike was lucky to have someone who knew how to help him through those challenges. You’d been down that road before.

    Dear Bun !

I know you were aware his time to go was not far away but I also know that doesn’t make anything easier. It just one of the hardest things about sharing life with our furry companions.

Did you have him from quite young, Dana? One of those pic looks more like a baby, although he had a baby look his whole life. Yet I feel like I’ve onl…[Read more]
