bumpybunny started the topic trying to figure out the cause of recurring gas episodes in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 11 months ago
For over a year now, my rabbit has been repeatedly having what I think are gas episodes. I really want to figure out what is causing these, I wanted to post here and see what you all think? Sorry this is probably going to be long.
In March of 2022 pumpkin got gi stasis. She recovered, but a few months after that she started getting gas episodes…[Read more]

Hi Meatloaf and Bunnito!
Some buns are naturally vocal, but since this is sth new for you buns, and they are 10 years old, I think I’d like for a vet to listen to their lungs. My bun Bam started making squeaky noises, when he ate, especially when he ate sth really delicious. They werent very loud noises, but quite noticeable, and it turned out it…[Read more]

Hi, guys! Long time no see.
Meatloaf n Bunnito are now 10! Yay!
What brought me here today is some interesting behavior I’ve noticed in the past year. I don’t know how long it’s been going on, but I have noticed it within this past year.
When they eat, they make squeaking noises. Not all the time, but enough to warrant me coming here to see…[Read more]

That sounds like a good plan. 🙂 If you adopt a bonded pair then you can give TWO bunnies a home and they can keep each other company while they are boarded. (haha sorry i’m a bad influence) 😉

Yes, I wouldn’t be concerned unless there are other symptoms. Lots of bunnies think their litter box is a comfortable bed.
Fewer pellets and more hay is your best bet for weight loss. You can try splitting up her ration to make it “last longer”. Or, you could encourage movement by putting her pellets in a toy or treat ball.

Unfortunately the only person i trust to do so will be gone with me at the time. The vet is a bunny vet and they do have special quiet bunny only places. But i know my bun never liked going to the cage since she was 100% free roam. I’ll reach out to the local SPCA and rescue folks and start looking at fostering, soo many bunnies that need love and…[Read more]

Hmmmm, maybe her arthritis is starting to make her feel like sleeping in her box instead? Do you think she could be older than 3?
Many buns sometimes do this, it’s not uncommon and usually not a cause for concern unless it’s paired with other symptoms. Also many buns don’t eat too much during the day as they are sleeping, so that’s also not…[Read more]

I’m very sorry for your loss. 🙁
No one can really tell you when is too soon, as that is going to be different for everyone. But in my mind, if you are finding yourself wanting another bun, then it is not too soon. There are so many rabbits in shelters that need homes, so I don’t think of it as “replacing” the bun, but as giving another bun in…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic New bunny parent, i have a few questions in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 11 months ago
I would avoid fruits for now. It’s really important to get good hay-eating habits established, which will lead to healthy teeth and healthy gut flora. You can start introducing greens though, very slowly. Usually no more than 1 new green per week, starting with a small amount and gradually increasing. Most people start with romaine or other types…[Read more]

Thank you very much for both of your replies, i appreciate the advice and knowledge. He is indeed 4 months now and starting to notice him being a lot more chewy with things around the house and including our clothes that we’re wearing! What is the best way to discipline a bunny?
We had thought about taking away the digging box we made him but he…[Read more]

My bun passed away recently and I really would like to have another bunny buy I’ve been struggling with the “Is it to soon?” question. One of the bigger things that have been coming into my mind is in about 3 months i will have to go out of town for two weeks and the bunny would have to be boarded with the vet. Is that too soon to be gone? It took…[Read more]

Hi all! I have an assumed 3+ y/o spayed lop. She’s a very sassy girl and I’ve had her for 2 years now. I’m concerned because as of the past couple of weeks she’s been laying in her litterbox at least once a night, usually around this time actually. Prior to this, she would assumably only ever lay in her litterbox when in pain/during stasis. So of…[Read more]
