Hi I wonder if anyone can help my rabbit is 2 years old she has dental disease but is on metacam for pain relief, she’s always running about quite energetic and eating all her Pellets and vegetables and lately her poo has been looking really healthy, today she’s also had healthy poo but just now I saw a poo she’d done and it has some orange…[Read more]

Poor Miso 🙁 It does sound like a very complicated surgery that would likely require lots of follow-up care. And without knowing the full extent of issues it’s hard to say, as there could be a lot more going on that you can’t see.
I can’t speak to a completely similar experience… but I did have a bun with a dental abscess. His was due to…[Read more]

Thank you for your input. Yes, at this point, the first thing is that the CT scan would cost already as much as the surgery itself. But independently from the cost (as our bunny is family and we just wanna do what’s best for him), due to where the abscess is, the vet (who has performed that kind of surgery before, so knows what she’s doing) is not…[Read more]

If flooring is the issue, I recommend dog whelping mats. I get fleece ones with grippers on the back.

Ugh I’m so sorry. 🙁
Not all abscesses recur, but I think I would want to be sure there aren’t other abscesses brewing as well. Does the vet have any ideas about how the abscess formed? They are often dental origin. It may be necessary to get a CT scan to know for sure, which I know would be expensive. 🙁
For abscess treatment, generally the…[Read more]

<p style=”padding-left: 40px;”>I think these are bunny safe. Rice glue is made of rice and water, and it would dissolve in the rabbit stomach. I have used sth similar for my buns. But as with all new food it’s recommended to start with smaller amounts -maybe let him have the timmy pop for a short time, then take it away and give it back the n…[Read more]

Hey everybody, I just got these for my rabbit, and I was just wondering. How safe are these for rabbits? I know they are made of timothy hay, apple sticks and rice glue. Is the rice glue harmful? Would these hurt a rabbit with some intestinal problems in the past (thankfully it’s…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic hay storage and pests in the forum DIET & CARE 3 years ago
Its not possible to say what these bugs are, but they probably were in the hay when you bought it. Grain of sand-size seems to tiny for flour beetles, and meal moths are moths, so that’s not a good fit either. So I’d suspect the hay.
You can freeze pellets and store them in the freezer and only take out what you need for a cpl of days or so at a…[Read more]

OMG I just went to clean out my bun room and there are hundreds of these tiny like grain of sand tiny black bugs all over. Anyone have any idea what these are and how to get rid of them? If it’s hay or pellet related how can I store this stuff to keep these bugs from multiplying? Especially if it’s already in the hay/pellets I purchased at the sto…[Read more]

Hi,
we have a bit of situation with our 3y old bunbun. After noticing his left eye bulging a bit we consulted a specialist that confirmed after ultrasound that there was either a tumor or abscess behind his eye. Due to its placement, the only way seems to be eye removal in order to clear everything. We are torn about this, if it’s worth putting…[Read more]

Agree with Bam, it sounds like she is doing well and is just learning your routines. I think keeping her away from the plushies is the right move, and if you need to keep her away from you while sleeping that would be OK too. Sometimes having a bun get full free-roam is overwhelming to them at first and can make them a bit territorial, so you also…[Read more]

Agree with the others! I’ve seen people even freaking out about giving buns refrigerator-cold veggies, but in the summer this is a great way to help the buns cool off! 100% agree that it’s all about the amount. As long as the amount is small (like you would give for any amount of fruit), it should be fine. 🙂
Maybe I’ll go freeze some strawberry…[Read more]

Hmmm, the rescue should be responsible for confirming the sex and getting the rabbit spayed or neutered. That does look like a testicle, so perhaps the bun is young and they are just descending now? Some buns will also retract them when scared, so it can be hard to tell when you flip them. Do you know how old the bun is?
Don’t worry about treats,…[Read more]
