Your bun is so cute! Blossom likes to run in to (and circle) my feet then she nips me (I think it’s because she got scared) when it’s time for hay so now, when giving her hay, I shake the bag I put the hay in above her litterbox and tell her “litterbox Blossom” and she hops in and I tell her to “stay there” and she usually does. But the shuffling…[Read more]

I totally understand too. I never wrote a Bridge post for Vilde bc my heart shattered in even smaller pieces when I tried to. And you, so very kindly, wrote the bridge post for Bam 💔
I remember the baby pic of Potamus when you held her in your hand. She was such a little chonk 🥰
My heart has joined the Thousand, for my friend stopped running…

After the bonding session last week Cooper and Bonnie did well so now I think I would just go with them, LOL. I think I’m just ready to have the buns in a “settled” situation, as the current housing set-up is not good for them long-term. No one is getting enough interaction or exercise, and although a trio would be ideal, going back to two pairs…[Read more]

These are such unique situations with trios! I hope yours do better than mine this round. If not, I personally would lean towards the least resistance as well, and put Cooper back with Myra. Somehow I think of we end up adding a 4th to our trios it will feel so easy compared to the current situation! Haha. I understand the motivation to have a…[Read more]

I’m so sorry JG 🙁
I know exactly what you mean about finding it hard to write. We all loved Potamus and know you did too! She was such a cutie pie. <3

Hi @FluffyandKissBinky,
I saw you started another thread so I’m going to paste this info there. You will get more engagement on your thread that way! I’m going to close this thread to avoid further confusion.

Aw thank you all so so much for your tips and advice!! So helpful 😊 shuffling in socks it is then!!
Bam, I see your point about being anxious and therefore sensitive to changes. Hubby is complete opposite to that so he can balance me out 😂😂

Thank you, lovely people.
I feel I should have written more for Mooshy. My brain is broken and for someone who has been so active here over the years, writing a post doesn’t feel as easy as it once did. 😳
I am grateful Potamus had a long life and was able to share it with bunny friends. I first met her when she was about 30 minutes old! In a w…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic When to start pre-bonding? in the forum BONDING 2 years, 8 months ago
I used boxes I already had, one plastic and one wooden box. They were there as “platforms”, not as houses, and esp the plastic one was popular with my girl bun, who was a bit scared in the beginning. There was a “house” and a tunnel too. Rabbits feel safer when there is a tunnel, so I always like to have at least one tunnel in any bunny area.

Thank you Bam! That means a lot since they seemed to have missed each other which broke my heart, but it’s good to hear that it was the right thing to do.
I’ll keep an eye out for the “post-neuter craze” and I do have a smaller neutral space for the first bun to bun sessions.
In the neutral space, should the boxes they can climb on be new so…[Read more]

I have had bunnies literally collide with my leg/foot while walking. They are definitely oblivious! As the others described, you have to do a shuffle when trying to get around when bunnies are running about.
As for breed, his ears look too long for a Holland. Probably a mini lop. As for the coloring, Bam is correct. It is called harlequin. Don’t…[Read more]

Indeed, the slide/shuffle walk is key. I have 3 black buns in my household now. Thankfully, after some time, they will naturally pick up signals to discriminate when you are actually likely to have food/treats or not. Just make sure you’re not reinforcing the behavior by giving him goodies and pets every time!

One way to try to avoid stepping on your bun is the slide walk. You basically drag your feet along the floor. I know moderator Wick uses this method and I do too, esp at night (f ex when I try to navigate my way to the bathroom in the dark 😄). I dont know how many times Ive said Please dont walk UNDER my feet!! to my buns.
Your bun might just be…[Read more]
