I should have been clearer in my original post: I was not the one who accompanied Hunny during her appointment. My sister was. She is of the opinion we are doing everything we possibly can, and she told me everything the vet said to her. I then took that information to make this post, because I am concerned the vet didn’t do a thorough-enough…[Read more]

Babyfacecupcake started the topic Is it possible for buns who originally hate eachother to eventually get along? in the forum BONDING 6 years, 4 months ago
I am trying to bond my 4 buns. They are all spayed and neutered. I have 2 boys and 2 girls. And I’m having so much trouble with the same sexes. Its almost always an instant fight the second they are together. I am currently stress bonding for 20 min a day. I walk around in a laundry basket for 10 min and then i make them snuggle and i pet them for…[Read more]

Did they only look at the front teeth? To check the molars the rabbit has to be sedated. If that wasn’t done then she needs to go back to the vet. You might want to look for a vet who is more experienced with rabbits. Considering that he needed someone else to take a look, didn’t check the molars properly (if that’s what happened) and sent her…[Read more]

Thank you very much for your message. He definitely means a lot to me, so I’m trying to figure out what’s going on no matter what.
What you’ve said is true, it happens to me specially during night time, I start to get overwhelmed by the situation and I don’t think clear. Hopefully something will come up that will solve things a bit, I just want…[Read more]

You could try to attach something for him to chew on to his cage, it’s easier for them to tear into something if it’s stationary.
7 years isn’t too old to get him neutered by the way, as long as he’s healthy and you have a bunny savvy vet.

Hazel replied to the topic Dominant/submissive grooming in the forum BONDING 6 years, 4 months ago
Every pair is different. Especially dominant or submissive rabbits often don’t exhibit behaviors that aren’t typical for their role. If you have a pair of bunnies who are both moderately dominant they might behave more loosey-goosey in regards to their pecking order where a dominant bun will still groom the other and so on. As long as they’re both…[Read more]

Hazel replied to the topic PLEASE HELP in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
She’s hitting puberty, so this behavior is very normal. However, you shouldn’t let it continue or your rabbits will end up fighting. Separate them until you can get both of them spayed, then you can go through the bonding process. 🙂
Also, young rabbits are difficult to sex correctly, so it’s important to separate them immediately just in case…[Read more]

My older female bunny is almost 6 months old now keeps humping my younger female bunny, from the back and on her head. I kept reading that it’s normal but is there a way I can get her to stop? I get really uncomfortable and try to spray her with water but she still does it. Neither of them are spayed.

Hi! so my bunny won’t go in any cardboard box hideout I have made for her. I have tried many sizes, shapes, and cut outs of holes (always 2 exits) and she will never chill in them in her pen. But i know she likes the security of a roof because she will sleep under my bed and the big chair all the time. I feel bad she doesn’t like the cardboard…[Read more]

if she won’t eat anything at all, she will need to be fed with a syringe, and giving some water with a syringe will keep her hydrated too.

I agree, a recheck is in order. With her pawing at her mouth, it does sound like something is bothering her there.
One of the forum leaders here had her rabbit get a stick of willow wedged across across the back molars one time. It reminds me of that.
I’m surprised the vet didn’t give motility meds.
Are you able to mix the critter care up thi…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Scared my bunny is underweight? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
Unlimited doesn’t necessarily mean unlimited. It really depends on the bunny. Some bunnies are perfectly fine being “free fed” and will eat what they want, when they want. AND still eat plenty of hay. Others need a little bit of motivation to eat hay. So if unlimited pellets causes them to gobble pellets non-stop and ignore the hay, then try…[Read more]

I do think requesting another vet consult is wise — it sounds very much like a dental-related issue. How did the vet check your rabbit’s teeth exactly?

Some rabbits, though a minority, may not like a lot of toys. Your rabbit sounds pretty much like my netherland dwarf — he doesn’t chew toys or play with anything. He just lounges all day (he doesn’t even flop, haha). If he’s not showing frustration behaviors, such as destructive tendencies, and he’s eating and drinking and pooping fine, he may…[Read more]
