DanaNM replied to the topic spay or move first? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
With spaying I think I personally would probably wait? You wouldn’t even need to rush to spay right at 6 months, so could spend a bit of time letting her get settled in and finding a good vet etc?
I guess the exception to that would be if you absolutely love your current vet and trust them 100%… But LA has an abundance of exotics vets so I…[Read more]

OB is back to being a false mama. Glad to hear they won’t forget about each other, though. Will these false pregnancies continue going on and off after they are spayed? If they rotate cages, I’m worried OB would get more stressed, so, I’m thinking of leaving them all in their original cages. Although, since OB is the timid one, I have towels on…[Read more]

So my bunny is currently almost 5 months old and she needs to get spayed soon. The only issue is that I am moving to LA this summer. I am trying to figure out if I should get her spayed a little early (vet said 5 months will be fine) and let her heal and then move to LA. Or if i should move to LA, let her get settled in and feel at home, and then…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Matted dirty chin? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
hmmm, what is his bowl like? Is it deep? I wonder if he is having to dip his chin in to drink? Maybe a wider shallower bowl might help. Could def be drooling from dental issues though so having the vet check him out is a good idea.

DanaNM replied to the topic how to hold a rabbit in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
I tend to only hold when necessary, rather than trying to “get them used to it”, but I do think it’s important to be able to pick up your rabbit and hold them safely, whether that be training them to go into a carrier, or being able to pick them up yourself.
I’ve found that by only picking up when necessary, they don’t anticipate you picking them…[Read more]

They aren’t truly bonded now, so don’t worry too much about them “losing” their bond. But if they remain within sight and smell of each other they won’t forget about each other.
The pee pad on the couch might work, but a hard surface that you can de-odorize with vinegar would be better, as the couch probably smells like your home.

I have two rabbits and generally speaking my girl (who is deaf) is most affectionate. She’s always liked being stroked and is generally fairly easy to pick up. Recently I’ve been trying to bond her with my boy but she has been extremely nervous with me and runs off when I try to stroke or pick her up. I can’t think what may have caused it as it…[Read more]

My rabbit likes to crack my bedroom door open, stick hers nose in and stares for a few seconds, but then she leaves! Why open the door if you are not coming in? hahah rude~

Bam replied to the topic Litter Training Help! in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
I think you are doing things right. It’s difficult to properly litterbox train an unspayed rabbit, once she hits puberty she’s likely to start pee- and poop marking. But it’s still good to try to install good litterbox ha it’s in her while she’s still very young.
You can place both her pellets bowl and some hay in her litter box. Bunnies often…[Read more]

I’m confused too… molars/back teeth/cheek teeth are all the same I thought.
Anyway, I’m glad you got her to eat some food, that’s great! She’s so lucky to have you there to take care of her. 🙂

LOL, you know our struggle too! Some days it looks like he’s over it but once we let our guard down, he’s back it. lol We’re looking into clicker training, but we’re not sure how to make it work in this situation.

Louiethebunny replied to the topic Litter Training Help! in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
Is she spayed? Spaying female rabbits not only makes litter training much easier but also prevents uterine cancer in female rabbits. If she is unspayed, peeing out of the litter box usually occurs because of territorial marking, she could be marking her territory on you. I wouldn’t recommend putting pellets in her litter box. Another step you can…[Read more]

Hello! So excited to be here and learn more about everyone’s bunny + mine too!
I got a 8 week Holland Lop 4 days ago and I have started litter training her. She actually picked up peeing in the litter box really fast and has only had one accident outside her cage and twice on me (does that mean anything?)
As for pooping, she hasn’t gotten the…[Read more]

UPDATE: I just spent three hours with Hunny. She is still clicking, but we snuggled. She last pooped around three hours ago, she took a few sips of water from her dish, and took a couple hesitant nibbles of her greens (though I don’t think she actually ate any of them).
Hunny had a bit of Critical Care (again, we are calling the specialist in the…[Read more]
