If he’s eating you could try to hide the medicine in his food? When my rabbit was ill and refused medicine we injected it into hollowed out grapes which he happily ate. Felt a bit weird preparing the grapes lol but it worked!

He didn’t eat his full portion of pellets in the time that he usually does but he did eventually finish them. He has been eating hay but its a little hard to tell how much as I just put his hay in a large pile in his litter box. He molted 2ish weeks ago but he might still be in that phase…?

It is always an observandum when a bun poops less. Does he eat his full portion of pellets? Is he eating his hay? Is he molting just now?

My bunny litter box trained the second day I had him home and has been diligently peeing in it which I’m really happy about. I keep his pellets pretty far away from his litter box and when he is done eating, he usually leaves behind a large pile of droppings. I have no problem cleaning them up and I don’t mind that he doesn’t poop in his litter…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic 🐰💩 is small, hard and black? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
Small dark poop doesnt really mean too much protein. It is more indicative of too little fiber in the diet. Darker poop can also mean more moisture in the diet, as a rule from an increased intake of fresh greens.
Size is more worrying than color. If she is on a hay only diet, I understand that it is hard to gauge how much hay she eats every day,,…[Read more]

Hi, weird question, do rabbits snore? Last night I was watching my rabbit as she went to sleep, and every time she puts her head down, she makes a grunting noise, that kind of sounds like snoring, and then she lifts her head up. Overall, she looks fine, but my research has said it can be concerning, and some say don’t worry. Should I be worried…[Read more]

I read that black poop means too much protein but she hadn’t had any protein at all. She just eats Timothy hay. I don’t feed pellets. She runs and hops, spayed, and overall active and happy. Why is this happening? It’s been days since her poop has been black. I thought it might’ve been the hay I buy online, so I went to a pet store to buy hay,…[Read more]

Okay SOO, not that I’m planning on holiday-ing anytime soon but I was just wondering about guidelines for bunny care when I am away…
I’m okay for short trips for work, I have to travel sometimes but not longer than 4ish days and I have a little brother who is great with Tybalt so I trust leaving him at home but my concern is with family trips…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic what to feed a bunny in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
To be clear, garden select is a type of pellets in the Oxbow brand. There is a separate garden select adult and garden select young rabbit. The difference between garden select and normal oxbow pellets is the ingredients. One is not necessarily better than the other, as both give the needed nutritional value.

I use what I believe is called a boot box? It’s large and flat and typically meant to put tall boots under the bed, I believe. They were cheap and are sturdy enough to hold. Unlike cat boxes, it doesn’t have a hood, but I’ve found it large enough for my 5lbs rabbit. My 2.5lbs rabbit finds its roominess nice as well. There is much less hay…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic A new puppy = different bunny poops in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
I dont think the food is too old for her taste. Hopefully this is just stress from the new puppy. Rabbits are territorial, so any new pet in the territory can affect them rather profoundly. Keep keeping a close eye!

I’m from England and we pretty much have the same brands as the US, just that I think Oxbow is that little bit more expensive.
I feed my 3.5 month old Excel Burgess pellets (alfalfa at the moment as he’s still young) but these go down a treat and I believe they’re very popular here because it’s the one brand I see everywhere – pet shops,…[Read more]
