My bunny litter box trained the second day I had him home and has been diligently peeing in it which I’m really happy about. I keep his pellets pretty far away from his litter box and when he is done eating, he usually leaves behind a large pile of droppings. I have no problem cleaning them up and I don’t mind that he doesn’t poop in his litter box, but this morning I didn’t find any droppings by his pellet bowl. The few droppings around the rest of his space and the droppings in his litter box are much smaller than usual and I wasn’t sure if I should be worried about this? He has been running and binkying around the room and so I don’t think its GI stasis but I just don’t know. I just need to know if I should be worried that he’s sick?

It is always an observandum when a bun poops less. Does he eat his full portion of pellets? Is he eating his hay? Is he molting just now?

He didn’t eat his full portion of pellets in the time that he usually does but he did eventually finish them. He has been eating hay but its a little hard to tell how much as I just put his hay in a large pile in his litter box. He molted 2ish weeks ago but he might still be in that phase…?

Molting can cause tummy trouble. If you suspect he has a little gas, you can give him 0.5-1 ml simethicone baby gas drops. Gas can be painful for rabbits and pain makes them lose their appetite.

Will he take a treat from you?

He does take treats and has been doing much better. Thanks for the help!
