The two would need to be housed separately. There is a major possibility that the family’s rabbit would react with territorial aggression with another rabbit coming into the territory. It’s not for certain, but is likely. House rabbits aren’t the type of pet that can have spontaneous playdates, especially in one of the rabbit’s territory.

    I would…[Read more]

I just got my mom to help me and she couldn’t do it either. He’s soooo squirmy. Do you think the vet could do it…for free? He’s probably consumed about .2 ml of his 1ml daily dose and that’s from me squirting it onto his feet and him licking it off. I have orange drip stains all over my walls lol. This is sooo annoying!

Wilbur is a 3.5 month old blue tort Holland lop. Super brave and adventurous and always forgives me no matter what I do. Yesterday I brought him to the vet and the lady came out to the car (because of covid) saying “he was very sassy” lol. For some reason I’m not able to add a picture but he is my profile pic.

Most antibiotics taste terrible… some more so than others.

Have you tried sitting on him? I’ve had a lot of luck with that method in the past.

Thanks @Wick that’s good to know. No pain, at least as far as I can tell. He’ll do it sometimes when petted… but rarely grooms after, generally loves pets and when he’s not in the mood he just moves off and we don’t ever force it, so I don’t think annoyed… but maybe.  He does sometimes do grooming after petting & eating, but he does this and…[Read more]

If it ever looks like your pet rabbit is “clapping” at something by hitting both of his paws together, he’s probably not applauding a musical performance he just enjoyed on your television screen. What he might be doing, however, is beginning his regular grooming regimen.

Molting can cause tummy trouble. If you suspect he has a little gas, you can give him 0.5-1 ml simethicone baby gas drops. Gas can be painful for rabbits and pain makes them lose their appetite.

Will he take a treat from you?

He may not calm down since there isn’t an understanding of what’s happening, and that can be frustrating. Just as you’re doing though, try different methods and see what works for both of you. Also know that if a technique isn’t working, it doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with you or your rabbit — it just might not be the best fit! For…[Read more]

It is surprising to know their tiny paws can flick with such force!

This is a typical grooming behavior. You can think of it like when you wash your hands and you have no towel to dry it, so you might flick your hands to help get them clean. Paw flicking typically precedes face grooming. I see it as a “preparatory” step. It can also be in…[Read more]

As a new bun owner I am still trying to figure out Dorian’s body language… one that I am a bit stuck on is when he does this thing with his front paws where he beats them really fast to the point it makes a noise… it’s a little like a clap, but up and down versus together. Sometimes I think he is annoyed, but other times he is definitely…[Read more]

At this point I’ve been trying for about 2 hours and he hasn’t calmed down yet. This is getting very frustrating. I’ve been trying to do it kind of like you showed wick but I’ll try again later exactly how you did it. I haven’t figured out how to do the bunny burrito yet as soon as I start moving the towel around him he bolts. I’ve been trying…[Read more]

So my bathroom looks like your picture @DanaNM , haha. Admittedly, the enclosure is much smaller:

They have been in there for 20hours at this point.  One question:

They can’t really run around and exercise at all. It’s a slippery floor and small space. I feel especially bad for Fable because she zoomies a lot. I think there has been…[Read more]

      I do the following, what I call “C-grip”: https://youtu.be/N12eJ5vdo4w

I developed this as I had to give Wick oral medication twice a day for several months in a row and it worked well since he’s small. If it is something you attempt, please be mindful of your grip and do not close your grip. Wick stays in place because my focus in maintaining…[Read more]

If yo cant hide the meds in his food, I would suggest you try to get someone to hold your rabbit  while you give the meds. The rabbit can be burrito-ed, which means you wrap it in a towel so it cant squirm. The pressure from the towel has a calming effect, like a thunder shirt for a dog. The other person can sit the bunny in their lap, the bun’s…[Read more]

Another frustrating day so far, today. Hunny did a few miscellaneous poops in her corral, but that’s it. She won’t eat, save for a little bit of a strawberry top she nibbled. We can’t get Critical Care in her, no matter what we try (we even sprinkled some dry on her favorite foods to see if she’d eat it; no dice). Hunny can’t seem to eat hay or…[Read more]
