Hunny and I do have a special little bond š That’s the ironic part in all this…Despite all the worry she’s causing me, she has also been my greatest source of comfort the entire time š

It’s really good she finds you comforting and will come snuggle with you. That’s so cute that she flops on your back! š

Yeah, I wouldn’t be overly paranoid about it. As Wick said, it’s unlikely there would be enough of whatever present to actually cause harm. Just make sure you wash your hands if you’ve handled something really bad.

LBJ10 replied to the topic When did your bunny start chewing wires? in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
A lot of bunnies will chew cords randomly. Even if they have left them alone for YEARS, one day they may just surprise you. I would say to expect the unexpected. š

I wish they would too, Hazel. I want to mention Simethicone and other suggestions in the document I give the vet on Monday. There’s no guarantee she’ll read it, and I can’t flat-out tell her everything because of COVID-19 and the clinic’s strict policies related to that, but I want to try.
Dana, I’m sorry to hear about your Moose š I try to keep…[Read more]

I’m so sorry she’s having so much trouble with gas right now. Try to get her to hop around regularly, movement can help. I really wish your family would give the Simethicone a try, gas is very painful and I know you hate seeing her like that. š

Gas does make a lot of sense, both because it can be intermittent and can cause a lot of pain. It is so hard to watch. š
Def check with the vet about a refill, and potentially stronger prescription for metacam, and also ask if it’s OK for you to split the dose and give every 12 hours.
Encouraging gentle movement can also help with gas and…[Read more]

I was wondering if it could be pain-related, and I was wondering if gas could be the cause (if not just another symptom). Hunny didn’t really have problems with it before now, but the first time she reverted to normal, it was after I helped her pass it, like I said. Maybe she passed more while sleeping in her tube this morning? It would explain…[Read more]

Agree with Dana again. š
I would try to get more Metacam from the vet at a higher dosage and see if that improves her appetite.

Hmmm, to me the fact that she goes back and forth between eating normally and not makes me think it is pain related? Do you notice a relationship with how long it’s been since her pain meds? The video of her chewing is weird for sure… it’s just so curious that she is switching on and off with eating normally.
Does she seem like she gets gassy…[Read more]

The frustrating thing is, Hunny goes back to being unable to chew properly just as quickly as she goes back to normal. She eats her fill of cilantro then goes back to struggling to even bite things. I’m very stressed and worried right now because of the phone conversation we had with this new vet. They’re familiar with rabbits but not specialists;…[Read more]

Agree with Dana, as long as she keeps improving there’s no need to put her through any invasive procedures. The additional stress could cause a setback. Going by your last couple of posts I think she’s coming along very well! š

She really sounds to be improving… if she continues to improve over the weekend I would call off the appointment.
As for mixing banana in, when I did this for Bertha I mixed up the CC thicker than I would for syringing, more like a paste, then mixed in just enough banana to get her to eat it. I can’t remember the exact amounts but I feel like…[Read more]

I offer Hunny fresh water whenever I can from a dish. Sometimes she drinks from it like a dehydrated camel, other times she wants no part of it. My family won’t try the hay tea because it wasn’t vet-prescribed. It’s hard to fight my family on matters such as these. We all want Hunny better, but our methods are all different, which makes things…[Read more]
