I don’t hear anything until I have my ear up against Dorian, but I swear I smell little bunny farts on more than one occasion. If he doesn’t seem in discomfort I think some bubbles are part of the process, probably just things digesting… but maybe keep an eye out to make sure he doesn’t seem to be in any discomfort?

Oh yes they do that too when they’re in the opposite mood but it never works haha! We’re not that bonded yet.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Water up Nose? in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 3 months ago
It might be helpful to see what water level/bowl height works best to prevent that. Depending on your rabbit’s nose size/snout length, that’ll vary. Both my netherland dwarf and american sable use the same bowl. My dwarf always gets so wet while my american sable uses it very neatly. Can you provide a picture of the bowl versus his size?

My bunny has been doing this thing for a while when he drinks water. He’ll stop, then start sneezing up water. He just did it a few minutes ago and I could hear the water trying to come out, like a gurgling noise. It seems to happen when I refill his water, like he’s really excited to drink it. I’m thinking maybe he just gets too excited and he…[Read more]

is it normal to hear gas passing through my little guy. I’ll be sitting near him and be able to hear gas bubbles in his little stomach.

Hi BrunosMama! Yeah, I guess you were gone for awhile before the forum update. The forum itself was down for about a year, but you had left before April 2019. It’s so good to see you again! Lot’s of things have changed, but it sounds like they were mostly good changes. I’m sorry to hear about Roxie though. It’s so hard when our pets start to get…[Read more]

haha! That’s so cute! My will do almost the opposite. One bun will start grooming themselves, and the other will dive under them in the hopes that the grooms will end up on them too. It usually works. 😉

This could go in bonding too but… When they’re on a date and they want to groom the other rabbit but they don’t want to be the first one to cave and give out kisses for the day they start washing their hands on top of the other bunny’s head. Then after a while it’s like “oops my kisses slipped off my paw and onto your head so I guess I’ll just…[Read more]

If your buns are a good weight and eat plenty of hay, or alfalfa plus grass hay, they will be fine. The HRS recommends that baby buns should have almost free access to pellets, but since you havent done that, you should t start now. You could gradually increase the daily serving though, if you feel your buns are less than an ideal weight. Since…[Read more]

But that’s great there is minimal aggression in the free-roam space! Seems like you’ve made leaps and bounds of progress!

DanaNM replied to the topic Why is my Medically Healthy Rabbit not Eating or Pooping? in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 3 months ago
That sounds like great improvements!!! Way to go Hunny!
FYIÂ Don’t leave mashed pellets or CC out for more than an hour or so without refreshing it (I think there are guidelines on this on the CC package as well). Once mixed with water it can grow molds very fast and become dangerous.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic How can I get my rabbit to eat hay in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 3 months ago
I’ll add a small precaution with oat hay, from my personal observation with my Wick: He would only eat the oat seed hays and not eat any of the hay itself, so although he was also super enthusiastic, he wasn’t eating a lot of hay because he just wanted the seeds, haha.

Hi Lucas,
There isn’t anything wrong with your hay, it should still be safe to feed. Also it’s best to start a new topic when you have a question of your own.

That’s awesome he’s eating hay now!! If he pooped a bit he’s not blocked, so there shouldn’t be any harm in giving some CC, since his diet is still not back to normal.
More and more I’m learning the importance of hydration with keeping the bunny gut moving, so it’s really good you syringed water.

I do think those Joint Support treats help! They seemed to help Bertha perk up in her golden years and 11-12 yo Bun Jovi is still super spry (and loves them). I also noticed Bertha leaving more cecals as she got older, and I was never 100% sure whether it was more a mobility issue or a bit more tummy sensitivity (or a combo of the two).
I also…[Read more]

Oooh yeah you could grow some wheat grass! You can get wheat grass seeds really cheap at health food stores (the “cat grass” seeds at pet stores are the same thing but overpriced).
Oat hay can also be very popular with buns that are picky about hay, so it might be worth trying if you haven’t yet.
