It’s not weird (if you are a bunny). It’s a social grooming behavior. Many buns start by licking furniture and pillows before they venture to lick their human. I think Louie could be building up to that. It’s very friendly. I had a bun who liked to lick his crinkly tunnel. Some buns meticulously groom their stuffy toys.

I know very well the feeling – the way my bunny left was also very traumatising and felt very wrong. Nothing can prepare us for when they leave, so its only natural to feel the way you do. It sounds like you had an amazing bond and I really hope you can rest in the knowledge of mutual love between you in the harder moments. Take the time you need…[Read more]

How cute! I love her Siamese markings. I had a little dwarf bun who had that colouration. It will be interesting for you to see it change as she grows.
I agree it’s early days and she probably still becoming accustomed to everything. I do think some of the rabbits with face hair “furnishings” can sometimes be a little skittish due to their…[Read more]

Hmm… could be hay mites.
I’m surprised the vet didn’t prescribe something just to be safe. Ivermectin would be effective against most mites.

Two weeks isn’t a lot of time, especially for a new bunny. Since she is still exploring her environment I would wait it out, patience is key. There is actually a link to the HRS’s list of rabbit-savvy vets, you might want to check that out. To add photos try going to your profile then adding photos to your account, they should then add into forum…[Read more]

I have tried to upload a pic of dixie but I can’t seem to figure it out! It keeps saying it isn’t allowed on this post! Anyways I will keep working on it! She is eating healthy and her feces are normal so I suppose all is well in that area! She is coming up on 10 weeks old. I worry that she isn’t happy. I let her have run of the large hallw…[Read more]

It’s a shame the vet didn’t look at some closer under microscope.
Can you gently lay some cello tape on the fur and get some out for closer look?
The only thing that came to mind for me is hay mite???

Hazel: Thank you! They did really well! 🙂 Although OB and Smokey had a bit of a tiff at one point. A work in progress. I love your ‘naner quest’, your bunny is so adorable! It is amazing that all of your pets get along with your bun! 🙂
TrixieandCookies: Your bunny is SO CUTE! 🙂
Here’s one more of my trio during the bonding session:

My bunnies do it too! Out of nowhere, they’ll just start licking the floor, or the couch, lol 😆 I’ve heard that it can be of the unique smell or the strange taste, that makes them lick the sofa.

Starting last week my bun has been hopping up and down off my bed nonstop and just chilling which is totally fine by me, but I notice he is always licking the sheets, pillows, duvet, and such. Is that weird?

Have you tried hiding cors behind big pieces of furniture? My bedside lamp cord goes behind my headboard so it doesn’t get in the way and is hidden from being chewed.

if less affection is a reason you’re on the fence abt getting her a friend, just remember if you’re able to get her a friend, less affection shouldn’t be a big concern. Most rabbits are still very affectionate and love human’s AND other bunny affection once you get close.

You could try hand-pulling if your bunny can handle it. Sometimes I pet my bunny and pull out some of the loose fur while he’s relaxed.

I’ve had success getting hair off with a lint roller, and I remember a previous member who onwned a rex saying this worked well for them as well!
Just rub a new sheet on your clothes a few times before rolling it over your bunny so it isn’t too sticky.

The vet did not administer anything as he said they are not fleas nor fur mites. I have a flea comb that I tried to use on him but they pass through the wires so it’s ineffective. I use the hair buster and that’s the only way I can see them crawl in his fur but I can’t rip out all his fur like that.
he’s been living in my room for some time bu…[Read more] -

Did your vet recommend any treatment? Have you tried combing them out? Do they seem to be growing in number? It would be good to know if this was a spontaneous occurrence, what sort of environment your rabbit is in as well. How long have you had your rabbit and is this how he’s always been?
