borya01 started the topic Can anyone recommend if any of these products are a suitable replacement for hay in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 1 month ago
Hey guys. I have had to stop feeding my rabbit timothy hay because it is triggering my asthma attacks. I realize how important hay is so I am looking for an alternative. Right now she has the compressed cubes (they are timothy hay, with just some alfalfa in to bind it), but I wanted to try something else.
A rabbit org near me recommended this…[Read more]

Hey I just saw this @DanaNM. I hate to say this but I have no access to fresh veg, but I’m glad you mention this because I need to keep her hydrated. I wonder if one of those water bottles that clips on a door would work for her? She has never used one before, she drinks out of a bowl. Thanks for bringing this up.
I have to use pee pads with her…[Read more]

HipHop: Agreed. I keep petting Dorian’s picture on the screen but it’s just not the same… ๐
Otis tries, but for some reason Oscar isn’t into his affections. Maybe the wet nose is a turn-off? ๐

PrinceDorian: Old photos work great, that’s what I used, haha. Ditto what Hazel said, I NEED TO PET THAT RABBIT!!! You have no idea how much it is costing me to look at him, and not be able to smush that little face! You need to give him LOTS of pets for me. ๐
Hazel: Haha, I’m glad that the plushie gave in and gave Oscar his well-deserved…[Read more]

Yes, her fur is VERY soft. So a Charlie is a mix of a few different breeds? Also, Iโm wondering if maybe she is part lop ear because occasionally one of her ears will droop down like a lop.

How long would I need to feed her this very very high fiber diet for the gas to stop? She’s been on it for weeks now with no improvement

We do believe she has intermittent slowdown as she poos very well and then at other times of the day she goes badly.
I took a sample of the poo to the vets and he was pleased with the poos, no infection, parasites, they were overall generally normal shape and size according to him. She done 250+ yesterday.
She isn’t having a mucky bum so I…[Read more]

@DanaNM Yeah I didnโt know how big he was until I got him. 😆
@JackRabbit Yeah I wanna do more of the under the bed storage bin idea for when I have both of the bunnies in one pen. Cause theyโll have more space when I put them together. Iโll have to find a bin like that but smaller for now. Iโm hoping the bunnies wonโt take too long to bond lol!

I use two huge cat litterboxes for my lops but if you have the space, Iโve seen people use under-the-bed storage boxes, garden trays, and cage bottoms with the cage part removed as well.

Sorry was away on a trip so just seeing this. The idea is that adding Ziggy could be in a less stressful situation because hopefully Velvet would be more calm if she was getting along well with the other two.
How is everything going now?

Sorry you are going through some troubles, that is crazy about that first bonder! I know professional bonders are a lot more common in the UK. @Sirius&Luna might be able to recommend someone.
So, sometimes is necessary for the current couple to split up when bonding a trio. This happened with S&L’s trio. Then they all reconfigure their dominance…[Read more]

Agree with putting litter and hay in the bottom of the carrier. Ideally you could even sit a litter box in the bottom of the carrier to keep everything contained. Having some fresh veggies on hand will help keep her hydrated as well.

Yes, I rubbed the plushie’s nose on his forehead, so that he wouldn’t feel like it’s refusing his request and disrespecting him. ๐ย It wasn’t very graceful, but he was cool with it. ๐
HipHop: Otis was a little worried, in most of the pictures I took he’s giving Oscar mayor side eye ๐
