Oh no, I’m sorry, poor Dawn 🙁
So the vet is hoping it’s caused by some kind of infection that the Baytril is supposed to take care of? If that doesn’t work, would he prescribe her an actual anti seizure medication?

Hazel, I jinxed her. She had another last night. But, she’s still on regimine, and the time between is increasing. So I’m hopeful. Regardless, if nothing works, as long as she has a quality of life, I’m not taking drastic measures. Last night, after her seizure, she was booping around the house, doing her tiny binks (They’re not big enou…[Read more]

Hmm… without a proper diagnosis, it’s hard to know what is causing the wheezing. It could be an infection, like pneumonia. This would require antibiotics. While pneumonia is serious, there are also much more sinister things that could cause the wheezing. How old is she? Do you have any idea? If she is unspayed, then something to consider would…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Will bunny's nose bleed? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 1 month ago
I’ve never heard of a bunny nose being so dry it bleeds. Their noses tend to be slightly damp to the touch because of condensation from their breath.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Can anyone recommend if any of these products are a suitable replacement for hay in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 1 month ago
I am really unsure. One of the major benefits of hay is the “saw blade” texture of it, which really aids in maintaining their dental health since their teeth never stop growing. Pellets do not cause that same amount of wear to happen, especially since it’s not something the rabbit is grazing on all day necessarily. Timothy grass should be the same…[Read more]

Oh, Dorian looks so soft in that photo! You have to take a video of you petting him so that I can imagine that hand being mine. I’m glad that he gave in and forgave the elephant. Ditto what Hazel said, he saved you the work of a bonding thread! LOL 😆

Metacam can be a bit hard on the tummy. My bun gets meloxicam (the active ingredient in Metacam) every day, together with ranitidine to counteract the effects the meloxicam can have on the stomach.

He still has a slight limp but no open wounds. And when he does run, he can’t run as fast or for very long. This was definitely an overnight thing from when he got the muscle injury. He’s eating hay like normal along with drinking water. The hay is the kind he has always had. His poops may be a little more misshapen and slightly smaller, but it…[Read more]

Thank you for rescuing this rabbit!
I think you should call your vet when they open (on Monday, hopefully), because wheezing can signify serious illness that needs antibiotics. You can test the urine for blood by dripping some hydrogen peroxide on it. If it foams, there’s blood present. If it doesn’t foam, the red color is just plant pigments…[Read more]

Hi everyone!

Apologies for the long post but I need some advice/your knowledge on rabbits to set my mind at ease or increase my panic. All vets are closed and the appointment I have set is a bit over a week away. I’ll try to structure this nicely and not give you a headache!

Phew it looks like they are friends again! Not technically snuggles, but that elephant and him have been best buds since a little after I brought him home so I am glad they made up! (& sorry bit blurry)

Bam replied to the topic 3 months old, not eating junior pellets in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 1 month ago
I think he’ll do excellently on adult pellets and grass hay. He may just need a slightly bigger portion size than what’s recommended for an adult bun of the same size . He should ideally get his pellets’ bowl refilled soon after he has finished it. That way he can eat as much as he needs for healthy growth.

Hi, I have a tricky one. We just got a new bunny who’s a bit over 3 months. For some reason, he’s not eating any junior pellets (we tried 3 different brands) but he’s happily eating adult pellets. Never had this issue with my previous rabbits so i’m a bit confused, and mostly wondering how to balance his diet in terms of protein and calcium…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Will bunny's nose bleed? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 1 month ago
It has never happened with any of my buns. I doubt it happens a lot. Rabbits always breathe through their noses, so their noses are kept more moist than ours. When our noses get so dry inside that the skin cracks, it’s mostly because we’ve had a stuffed nose and have been breathing through the mouth.
A rabbit can of course bump into sth or scrape…[Read more]
