I think he’ll do excellently on adult pellets and grass hay. He may just need a slightly bigger portion size than what’s recommended for an adult bun of the same size . He should ideally get his pellets’ bowl refilled soon after he has finished it. That way he can eat as much as he needs for healthy growth.

Hi, I have a tricky one. We just got a new bunny who’s a bit over 3 months. For some reason, he’s not eating any junior pellets (we tried 3 different brands) but he’s happily eating adult pellets. Never had this issue with my previous rabbits so i’m a bit confused, and mostly wondering how to balance his diet in terms of protein and calcium…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Will bunny's nose bleed? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years ago

It has never happened with any of my buns. I doubt it happens a lot. Rabbits always breathe through their noses, so their noses are kept more moist than ours. When our noses get so dry inside that the skin cracks, it’s mostly because we’ve had a stuffed nose and have been breathing through the mouth.

A rabbit can of course bump into sth or scrape…[Read more]

Thank you for your response. 🙂 She breathes heavily on a normal occasion. Not really heavy like a respiratory infection, or like she’s having trouble, just sounds like a sprinkler. Sometimes she will sound normal though. 🙂 Oh, she isn’t fragile in that way, she is more of a package that says “handle with care” when I groom her, she just feels…[Read more]

Sorry no one replied to your initial posting! When it’s a new behavior, that is noteworthy. Also, when I think of fragile buns, I often recall many instances where there was an underlying issue which taxed everything, making them seem prone to a lot more. For example, my Wick had a half year battle with his URI, and then what seemed like an…[Read more]

Hey everyone!  I finally got to talk with the vet today so I’m coming back to update. Short version: I’m not worrying about the milk thistle in this case, but am not sure when/if I will go back to CBD given the possible medication interactions.  Here are more details:

The vet explained that the milk thistle / lactulose compound has like 5% or l…[Read more]

Hi all, I’ve been stressing over OB. She’s seemed so fragile lately, but other times she’s very solid, such as when she head-butts me asking for pets. 😆 I don’t know… her leg hasn’t gotten any better for those of who followed that thread, and her breathing is still heavy. I’m guessing it’s chronic, she wasn’t like this when she had a…[Read more]

A week is no time at all, give yourself space to grieve and try to focus on remembering all the wonderful things about her.  I have no advice for a grieving bonded rabbit, but it sounds like Leo is doing okay and hopefully he can help you with your grief and you two can have a bond of your memories of Luna.

@Starlightbunny – who could blame Plumpy, they look very tasty! Hopefully there are lots of tasty remote buttons for him to chew to his hearts content over the rainbow bridge. They are such sweet looking pair.

Dorian would love your pets!! He strongly believes all hoomins were created to pets him endlessly, except for when he’s exploring, in…[Read more]

Moonlight, once they’re bonded you’ll definitely need a really big litterbox or two large ones.  Bonded buns often like to be in the same litterbox at the same time.

Hazel: LOL 😆 Agreed, maybe that’s how I earned my reputation as “Pesky hoomin” 😉 I try to hard to get snuggles, haha, Smokey would rather be nipped than spend time with me. Although occasionally one of them will give me a snuggle, maybe they felt bad for me. 😆

She’s definitely got something irritating her gut.  Did the vet mention a hay only diet temporarily as a gut “reset”?

HipHop: 😆  He doesn’t drool often, but when he does, he gives it his all. 🙄  Maybe he’s just too eager, we all know if you want a bunny’s attention you have to play hard to get. 😆
