    Hi!!
does anyone recommend any cleaning I could do for the oxbow hide and seek mats? I just got them yesterday and milo has managed to pee in both of them, of course.

Thank you! Iโ€™ll see if he will eat it off of food next time I have to use it then.

The bunny fart sounds cute LOL. Pinky seems a little better today. He got excited and stood up with his front paws on the bars when I got up, like usual! But still not his crazy little self yet. Not sure if he ate any hay during the night. I kept putting fresh h…[Read more]

I would encourage her to eat more hay.ย  I don’t know how many vegetables you are giving her. Maybe decrease the amount of veggies. Sending you and her good vibes.

@Hazel I used to hose myself down when I worked as a paramedic and sometimes it happened that I got assigned to cleaning duties (out in the sun… so many cars…) a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do!

Here is an article on bladder sludge vs normal rabbit urine, with pictures. It’s from Medirabbit, a trusted source. Normal rabbit pee comes in many colors and there’s practically always some calcium deposit in it, because that’s how he healthy rabbit eliminates dietary calcium that it doesn’t need. Rabbit pee should never be colorless and…[Read more]

Teeth chopping typically only occurs when the bun is really uncomfortable. Then you have other signs of discomfort as well, such as refusal to take a treat, or you know sth is going on (recent spay/neuter or other surgical procedure). One of my buns couldvtooth chop if he had gas and you massage the tummy, which is a bit weird because at the same…[Read more]

    Hi

As some of you may remember my rabbit has been having problems with stasis. We think we have realised what originally caused her to stop eating. She has a lump that she’s had monitored for about 2 years that was too small for a sample to be taken. We have since had a sample anylised when it got bigger a month ago. It was mainly inflammation…[Read more]

You don’t have to give it if he isn’t showing any symptoms. Some buns will take greens with a bit of gas drops squirted on them. I have orange flavored infacol for my bun. It’s 40 mg/ml. I assume the dosage on the package relies on what has been tested on human babies. Not that a bigger dose would harm a baby, but because higher doses have not…[Read more]

Hi Dana – Thanks for your input as always ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I recently decided to weigh him for this reason and it looks like he lost a bit a weight over the last 3 months (1.5kg at the beginning to 1.45kg now).ย  Since I’m a worrywart, I’ve decided to keep weighing him weekly and if it does look like he’s consistently losing weight, I’ll definitely need to t…[Read more]

Hazel: Guilty. ๐Ÿ˜† Yes, I have a red-eared slider named Miguel, who has no trouble bonding with his fish companions. *Sigh* If only my ladies would do the same. ๐Ÿ™„ I originally put the fish in there for him to eat,ย but he let them grow out of eating size. ๐Ÿ˜† He’s a fun little guy. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks guys. yeah the idea of a sanitary shave makes me nervous. I like the idea of bum baths. Her hind quarters aren’t in such bad shape yet, it’s only crept up over the last couple weeks, so maybe this is a good option. I was watching a youtube video about it before. Oh man, she is just going to hate me if I do this… But hopefully she will…[Read more]

I think it’s normal and honestly a very good sign that you will be a great bunny parent. ๐Ÿ™‚

Once you learn her mannerisms and ways you will worry less. A big part of detecting problems is knowing what is normal for your bun, so at first it’s natural to worry a lot because you don’t know what “normal” is yet. For example, Bun Jovi HATES being…[Read more]

The rule of thumb is that a bun should spend at least 4 hours a day chewing hay. So for a bun only getting hay, 9-10 hours doesn’t seem too crazy to me.

    Are you tracking his weight?

I agree that I would prob wait for the vet to show you, especially since your bun is hard to handle. A bum bath or a cornstarch bath would be a much safer approach. Usually ongoing sanitary shaves are only done on buns that are incontinent due to illness or injury. Fixing her litter box set-up is more important that the shave.

Was it actually sludgey? Like was it a thick paste with white calcium particles in it? Do you notice her straining to urinate? If you remove the bedding from her litter box temporarily and just put a layer of hay in it, you can get a better look at her urine out put to see if there is more evidence of sludge.

Some calcium in the urine is not a…[Read more]

If you can keep him more upright that will prevent him from trancing.

The first two look comfy. The second one can vary a bit. There is a subtle difference between a bun-loaf (comfy) and a hunched-in-pain type loaf. In the hunched position, sometimes it looks like they are tense and pushing their tummy into the ground. To me it looks more comfy? Myra will often sleep in that type of position.

I think since she is…[Read more]

Iโ€™m questioning if I should even give him a third dose tonight. It stresses him out a lot and heโ€™s eating some hay now. I should probably give him the last dose to be safe, itโ€™s just difficult for the both of us. Itโ€™s been a rough day. ):
