Wild bunnies will fight back against a predator.

Pet bunnies can growl and lunge if they are fearful. However, this is generally not the case. The more common reason is a bunny being territorial. They will growl and lunge at an intruder that they perceive is invading their territory. So grandma probably isn’t a “predator”, she is probably another…[Read more]

    I agree with Dana.

Also, if you are telling him “no”, be sure to redirect him. Pushing his nose to the floor is just going do anything except make him mad. So if he is chewing the carpet, for example, tell him “no” and then physically redirect him to something more appropriate. I’ve also had a lot of luck with putting something heavy on a chew…[Read more]

Bunnies actually prefer cooler temps. As long as it isn’t literally freezing, they will be fine. You could possibly provide them with a bed, as long as they don’t chew it. They can use that to cuddle up in if they want to.

I doubt a non-rabbit savvy vet will be able to help you with this. It could be an abscess, it’s hard to tell from the pictures. But considering the location (corner of the mouth), an atypical case of syphilis seems like a good candidate. When I say atypical, I mean a case that affects the face.

Why do rabbits growl and attack?

In the wild rabbit moms always train her rabbit kids to absolutely fear foxes or eagles, when they see one, just run for their life, never look back or be eaten.

But when my bunny sees grandma, whom she hate, she just growl and attack, don’t she feel terrified that she may eat her? Does she see me as her…[Read more]

The neutral space is my office so I can’t sleep there. They have been together 8 hours for a few days so I though I would try the final living space.
I can work from home so I could try them in the final space (our living room) during the day I just wasn’t sure it I had to go jack to neutral space.
they been been so good but the sessions hav…[Read more]

It does feel like it could be a scab. It’s hard to see because he has big cute cheeks.

Well, I just finished stress bonding them, and they are now in semi-neutral.

I did a 30 minutes stress-bond session. It went okay, a little better than the last. This time I put them all in a box, where Silver stayed hunched up in a corner, OB chewed the wood, and Smokey escaped three times. 😯 So, I finally got them to settle down, and they…[Read more]

Yes, they aren’t too stressed that they aren’t peeing or pooping! 😆

Thank you! 🙂 Last time I took them back to their x-pens to de-stress. (and so I could clean up Smokey’s mess 😆 )

This time, if nobody pees before it’s done, I plan on doing a 45-60 minutes stress bond session, then putting them all in semi-neutral.

    Will keep you posted!

That’s scary, I had no idea that fleas could cause such a big problem. Fleas are usually pretty bad here in the summer, although this year has been better than most. The kitty is fine I take it?

Dawn is lucky she has you to take care of her, I’m sure she enjoys the extra attention. 🙂  I’m glad Loki didn’t end up with the same issue.

I haven’t, but you reminded me of @LittlePuffyTail and her late bunny Bindi, who was quite the celebrity here on BB for all his adorable costumes!

Hmmmm, the change in the last few months is what jumps out to me. Have there been any changes in your household?  Did this happen to coincide with covid-times and everyone just being home all the time?

The only other thing that seems like it might be a trigger is that he goes traveling with you a lot, and you tend to rearrange fencing sometimes?…[Read more]

If you want to keep working with them after stressing you can put them straight into neutral or semi-neutral (esp if semi-neutral was the sticking point, that might be a good plan).

DanaNM replied to the topic Bonding process and next steps in the forum BONDING 5 years, 11 months ago

    That sounds very positive. 🙂

What is the neutral space like? Would it be possible to do an overnight or some other longer session there first? It’s also a good idea to try some dates during different times of day. Some buns will get along great all day, then in the evening things get feisty.

If not, the humping doesn’t sound like a huge issue,…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Help! My bunny won’t pee in her cage! in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 11 months ago

Could you perhaps make a little penned area for her, connected to the cage so as to extend her living quarters? Some buns don’t want to pee too close to their “home”, probably so as not to attract predators into the “burrow”. (This is an instinct, not sth she does by her own conscious choice. )
