Your best bet is to google your location + “rabbit rescue” and see what comes up.

The house rabbit society has a list of local chapters but that may not be all-inclusive:

I’ve done this with a “pill popper”. They sell them online or your vet should be able to give one to you! The trick is aiming the pill at the right spot. It’s tricky with rabbits though, so liquids are usually easier.

Top of USB cord is a cunning plan 😄 It’d probably work best with an expensive cord or at least one that’s difficult to replace.

I have only given pills dissolved in water, in a syringe. It’s very common here, to get the dosage right you have to dissolve a pill or half a pill in f ex 5 ml water and then measure up the amount you want. Over the…[Read more]

Can your vet not compound the medicine? That at least gets your a liquid form. Then it’s a matter of forcing them to take it, unfortunately.

I wouldn’t be too concerned if she is still eating. Less poop doesn’t necessarily mean stasis. It can be a slowdown, particularly if your bunny is molting. But it could also be your bunny becoming an adult. As bunnies mature, they tend to become less active. During the day, they may not poop much or at all if they are just lounging around. Then…[Read more]

Any suggestions for giving my clean living I-Only-Eat-Hay bun non liquid medicine like gel types that can’t quite be squeeze into mouth or powdery stuff? Only thing I can think of is putting on top of USB cord or on other bun’s fur since she loves grooming him…

Normally I’d put on treats, sprinkle on pellets, put on veges, etc but this bun just…[Read more]

I don’t know where else to put this topic so I’m sorry that it’s probably in the wrong place. Can someone help me find a rescue or some place where I can get my bunnies nails clipped? The vet I take them to says they’d need an examination every time they get their nails clipped which is about $60-$70 altogether (nail clipping is like $15-$20 and…[Read more]

You could try crushing the pill and putting it into critical care or a banana or strawberry. Wishing your bunny a swift recovery! <3

    Hello everyone!

I have a five months old lion head rabbit and she’s very active and she likes to eat her veggies, pellets and hay but today I noticed that she pooped a lot less than usual but she’s still eating so I don’t know if I should worry or take her to the vet, because I am really scared of G.I. stasis

Glad you have some leads and treatment options!

If the banana doesn’t work you can ask them for a “pill popper” or see if they can compound it as a liquid for you.

thanks everyone for the advice, we just got done at the vet and i wanted to update. she had bloodwork and x-rays done, and the vet says she can see some debris in her inner ear on the xray, so she’s thinking it’s an ear infection especially since she’s been scratching her ears a lot. she gave me antibiotics, anti inflammator meds, and pills to he…[Read more]

It does sound like EC, but ear infections can cause some wild symptoms too. To treat for EC she needs a full 28 day course at 20mg/kg, so if she was only on it for 2 weeks that would explain it.

Keeping her in a padded, dimly lit, and somewhat small space would be safest, I hope you get some answers soon!

thanks, she seemed to be okay through the night and ate some but now this morning she’s hiding and doesn’t want to eat. her vet appointment isn’t for another 6 hours, so i’m hoping i can get her to eat by then. i’ll update after her appointment

It’s important to make sure she cant hurt herself on things in her surroundings if she has more seizures. Make sure she eats and keeps warm. Avoid bright lights and high noises in her area if at all possible. A good friend that had an elderly with chronic ec found that  gentle head rubs and classical music (Mozart) on a low volume seemed to calm…[Read more]

if anyone saw my post yesterday about my rabbit acting kinda wobbly for a few seconds, i didn’t think it was a seizure until tonight. the same thing happened but ended in her flipping and spinning on the ground really hard. i have an appointment for the vet tomorrow at 11, but is there anything i can do for her before then? right now she’s jus…[Read more]

I think it’s a good plan to keep an eye on it. It’d good to keep a little “picture diary” so you can keep track of changes to that cloudy streak -but rabbits are notoriously difficult to get really sharp pics of.

You’ll obviously notice if he gets more eye boogers or if the eye becomes red and irritated.

He doesn’t have redness in his eye,  and the cloudy streak seems to have lightened up but I am still being cautious.  I would take a picture, but taking the first one was already a big hassle and I dont want to bother him again. His eye did have a white eye booger once but no other symptoms. He is still behaving normally and playing with his brother.

I do think it would be best to have the vet check it out. They can also check the eye pressure. If it’s an age-related cataract that can also go along with an increase in eye pressure which can be painful (but treatable with eye drops).

I also agree EC shouldn’t be ruled out. More and more cataracts that were thought to be “just age” are being…[Read more]
