prince dorian the bun replied to the topic I cant clip my rabbits nails in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 11 months ago
I seem to have easy clipping sessions, followed by ones that turn into utter disaster. I do find that just aborting after a paw or even a nail and trying later when everyone especially the bun is less stressed is really helpful. Hey sometimes it takes a week or so to get all the nails. Sometimes feeding treats through out helps, sometimes that…[Read more]

@Bam thanks for posting that… oxbox didn’t do as well as I thought they would, however I always thought too much calcium was bad, so not sure I should be worried they have too little? I mean if you also give greens and hay it should all be good right? The fiber is high so that was the only thing I focused on.
@borya01 – totally get the desire…[Read more]

Yeah I thought the big spot was strange. Pinky has only peed outside of his pen once, in the corner of my room. I don’t see the spotting when they’re out during playtime.
I could possibly buy some tiles, what kinds are safe? Or, I have a big thick plastic lids from their litter boxes (storage bins).
I think these spots were from two days of hav…[Read more]

Hi, my sweet lop eared bunny, Penelope is almost 7 years old. We LOVE her and would do anything for her. She is my therapy animal pretty much! We noticed her starting to tilt her head and shake her ears a bit just a few days ago. We took her to the vet yesterday and she doesn’t have mites but the vet did say she had some build up and a small i…[Read more]

Thank you Wick for the info and photos! I’ll keep that stuff in mind.
We’re going to the vet tomorrow, the vet said that it looks like an infected cut from the photos. But can’t be sure until Muffin is seen in person. The vet said that Muffin would be treated with antibiotics orally if it is an infected cut.

Here is a website that compares the nutritional values of many pellet brands.
Ideally a rabbit pellets should have 20% fiber as a minimum, this website says 18%, but my rabbit savvy vet says 20 or higher.
An adult healthy rabbit needs about 1 tablespoon pellets of compressed pellets (Oxbow pellets are compressed type pellets) per kilo body…[Read more]

It’s probably veggie staining. In my experience, the skin looks visibly and texturally unhealthy when something is amiss. Now having exposed skin is generally a risk factor for eventually getting an infection, simply because if the skin gets scratched and opens up, things might get in the wound, just like with humans. Also, places that tend to be…[Read more]

In terms of rabbit food, are you referring to the pellets, treats, and/or hay?
For hay, typically people get much lower prices if they have a local farm that sells it.
I definitely do not want to downplay any expense, regardless how frequently one buys it, but if you find yourself buying pellet bags very often, I wonder if you may be feeding too…[Read more]

Rabbits sometimes eat normal poop for a variety, but general harmless reasons, so I wouldn’t worry to much about that in particular unless it’s accompanied by other worrying/abnormal behaviors. If there is a sudden rise in frequency, I would raise a flag as well.
The stains could from ceco-juice, but typically it doesn’t spread that much. Pee…[Read more]
