That’s very helpful thank you! I agree that it does sound like it would be a lot of work, though not that this is the best explanation or reason to get one but, other than the fact that I genuinely want to put in the effort that it would take, but I also hope to be working with a lot of animals once I graduate from college.
My family has had SO…[Read more]

I think if he’s improved a bit, I would give it some more time before re-introducing more greens. Just keep pushing fiber fiber fiber!

Yeah I think that might be it. I saw an improvement today, a couple wet poops but not as bad as before. And a couple mushy ones but still not as bad. So I think it’s getting better.
They’re still dark and different sizes though. I was thinking before that it was just fur causing the big ones, but they’re not shedding a lot now.
I gave them some…[Read more]

sgtsnuggles replied to the topic $700 for a neuter??? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 10 months ago
I went on rabbitrescue.com and they have a list of certified vets. I was being quoted at $500 from three different vets and I just can’t afford that currently so I called a vet marked as affordable. I read through reviews and they had a few about successful bunny spay/neuters and happy people and buns. I definitely agree that for this circumstance…[Read more]

I opened up the corner they were peeing in after closing it off for a few days. They didn’t pee there for a couple days but now they started again. Maybe because it’s right outside the x pen where their litter boxes are?
I noticed the pee smells like soy sauce or fishy miso soup. Does this mean anything? Maybe an infection? When I was cle…[Read more]

I’m a senior in college and just bought a bunny! Whew where to start- they’re a lot more commitment than people make it out to seem. Beware you need to clean their litter everyday, give them hay, clean up their poop, etc. Many rabbits chew wires (not mine thankfully) and you need to bunny proof your home. I think all rabbits should be house…[Read more]

OMG! How could I forget that Stress-bonding is just a tool, and not essential! 😆 It has started being my go-to when I have time to bond them! 😆 I don’t really do the typical stress-bonding, where you take them in a car and such, I just put them all in a small space (laundry basket, bathtub) and I play relaxing music so that they aren’t too…[Read more]

Agree with Wick!
I have found success with stressing when rabbits tend to want to fight, and the rabbit that is the most aggressive is affected by the stress. So for example, my first pair, Bunston and Bertha were really had to bond. Bunston would just attack Bertha immediately. Short car rides for a couple weeks helped stop this, because he…[Read more]

shasbun replied to the topic Help, how to keep rabbit off bed in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 10 months ago
Would it be possible to block off your room entirely? If that’s not an option, maybe try blocking your bed of with an x- pen like DanaNM said. You could also get NIC grids and block it off with that, but it would be more complicated.
Also, I just wanted to add that many bunnies can jump over anything less than 3 feet, so if you want to get an x-…[Read more]

sgtsnuggles started the topic Corner of eye swollen in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 10 months ago

Hello,
The corner of Appa’s eye is a bit swollen. There’s a light amount of mucus coming out that I cleaned off his eye and some fur came off. He itches it sometimes I don’t think very frequently. Is this an emergency does he need to go to the vet or is it just a bit of irritation that I need to keep clean and monitor? His eating and drink…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Head Shaking in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 10 months ago
If it’s fur, you can probably just wait it out. And yeah, it could definitely just happen in one ear. If you have been good in checking the ear area and see nothing unusual, fur tickling would be my bet. If it is something more inside the ear, such as an infection, I imagine you’ll be able to see something, or her behavior would reflect it, like…[Read more]

The simplest thing would be to get an x-pen and use that to block it.

I have a door at the top that I can open up for cleaning, or if I need to catch a bun from the top levels. Basically the top two panels on the left flip down, and are clipped up at the top.
