CookieWookie started the topic Post bunny spay question in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 9 months ago
Hi, I got my 10 month old Holland lop spayed on November 20th. She’s eating and acting normal now but my question is related to her stitches. To me, it looks normal and surprisingly healed for it being about a week. I’m not too worried but still, does this look normal to everyone?

Thank you! -

Thank you, they were the best! Well maybe not Tilly, she was an absolute terror, lol, but I loved her for it 😉
No, not in an area with RHDV. Vet and I discussed that though. They’re going to test for it, but he didn’t think it was likely since it’s not common here and Olly’s symptoms weren’t in line with what they typically see with RHDV I…[Read more]

whispercalm replied to the topic Could mold be the problem for Charlie? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 9 months ago
I tried making a new topic, but it doesn’t seem to be showing up in the forum. I am just really discouraged tonight. Charlie had a small series of sneezes and I found white mucous on tip her nose. I know this only day 2 of the new med. just seems like more sneezing today and I wasn’t expecting to see the thick discharge again. At least it’s…[Read more]

Today Charlie has been sneezing more. She had a little group of 3 sneezes that sounded a bit stronger and when I went to look at her she had white mucous on top her nose. My heart just sunk. I know these infections can take time to clear up. It’s been 5 weeks now. Three weeks on one antibiotic with improvement. Go off of it and then have to sta…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. Your bunnies were adorable. 🙁
Are you in or near an area with RHDV? It is highly contagious and sadly causes sudden death with few symptoms or symptoms similar to other rabbit ailments. The three week gap for the first bunny fits, but those two incidents may not be related. If there is any chance if could be RHDV y…[Read more]

I second what Bam said, more time may be the main solution. I would also ensure that you aren’t reinforcing negative behaviors unintentionally. Our pets will turn us into “vending machines” if we let them!
If she bites you when you go to give food, don’t give the food. When she charges your hand, it can help to pet the top of her head with the…[Read more]

This month has been rough – somehow I have lost both of my bunnies this month, suddenly and unexpectedly, and with similar symptoms both times. I’m a new-ish bunny parent only having adopted my first bun in Sept 2019 and my second one this summer to try to bond them while I worked from home during the pandemic (they never ended up bonding, but…[Read more]

Bam, thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful reply! I actually got a bit teary just for having some reassurance!! So silly!
I’m very disheartened to hear it may take 6 months to calm down but hopeful regarding your comment about her not being antisocial. She is actually very social and I hope we will get a good relationship back!! I…[Read more]

This is a good place for your questions. For more specific advise on bonding matters and methods and also what progress or non-progress you are making, the bonding section is the appropriate section.
I can understand that you are starting to resent her. Keep in mind that many parents of human teenagers also start to resent their teenage…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
I’ve signed up to this forum because I’m extremely stressed out! I would really appreciate some help and advice.
I have a rabbit called Phil (originally thought to be a he!). She coming up on 8 months old now. She has been free roam more or less since day 1 – she has the run of the apartment. At around 5/6 months old, she started…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Is my bunny in pain from his cataract or is he sick as well? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 9 months ago
Hi!
Cataracys could cause eye pain in for example very bright sunlight. It can’t cause weight loss though. What drops are you treating him with and what surgery have you been discussing?
Cataracts in rabbits can be caused by an intracellular parasite called e cuniculi. The parasite can be transferred to the rabbit while it is still in the womb,…[Read more]

Hi guys,
Panda is a 7 year old mini lop that was diagnosed with a cataract a couple of months ago. I’m worried about him surviving surgery so we’re treating him with drops at the moment.
My worry is that he started breathing rapidly and I noticed his ears are always hot. He’s also lost weight and in general is much more lethargic.
Does anyon…[Read more]
