How is your bun doing now?

I’m always a bit skeptical of home remedy type things, because you never really know if the bun just naturally fought off the infection on their own. I can’t really imagine apple cider vinegar doing anything…
I’m not familiar with GSE, but I did find a published paper on it having a benefit in wound healing in rabbits. If the echinacea is…[Read more]

I’ve come across some articles/blogs where people have use echinacea, GSE, and a few other natural remedies to help URI.
I have a few questions and wondering what experience others have had. I thought this might help Charlie. Poor little thing must have had discharge last night and wiped it on her face. Had to wash her face this morning for h…[Read more]

Dog metacam is 1.5 mg/ml. 0.47 ml for a 1.42 kilo rabbit, gives a dose of 0.5 mg meloxicam per kilo body weight.
This is a dose well within what Medirabbit suggests. Medirabbit quotes a dose of 0.3 mg meloxican per kilo body weight up to 1.5 mg per kilo body weight for severe…[Read more]

Okay thank you so much! He’s on .47 ml per day and he’s 1.42 kg. It’s the “metacam oral suspension for dogs”. Does this seem right? It’s for mouth pain after the trim and for minor sores on his hocks, which the vet says is probably due to decreased activity from dental pain, and him sitting around putting pressure on the hocks more.

Since the dose is probably not extremely high, it is ok to give the dose at 7 pm. I have a rabbit that is on long term metacam, and its not always possible to administer the med at the same time every day. Rabbits metabolize meloxicam rapidly.

So Blaze just got a molar trim yesterday and he has metacam for the next few days. He also had metacam for the past week ish leading up to his trim. He had been getting it at 7 pm in his veggies everyday. Last night he wouldn’t take it on his veggies, so I had to struggle with him to get him to take it and I finally got him to take it around 1…[Read more]

There are no good home remedies for chocolate poisoning. You should contact a vet. How long is it since she ate the chocolate? How much did she eat?

Ahhh! No puppy here :/ we’ve applied for several dogs from shelters in our area but all were adopted by other families before us! I suppose it’s to be expected, lots of people are probably wanting to give puppies forever homes for the holidays! Filling out the applications is quite tiring so my family is taking a break from the puppy fever until…[Read more]

I would definitely have it looked into. The other possibility is just a really bad bacterial infection not caused by tooth root problems. The rest of his symptoms don’t appear to be consistent with that though. What you’re describing is very consistent with my experience with this. To confirm these suspicions though, you’ll likely need an…[Read more]

Thanks Dana and Wick! That’s reassuring to hear… her poops did get a bit bigger in the evening (not to normal size, but at least a bit bigger), so hopefully it will go back to normal tomorrow but I will continue to watch her closely. The hay suggestions are helpful- right now it’s mostly in her litter box and I refill once a day, but I’ll t…[Read more]

I 100% agree with the others. Neutering will definitely help, but also have to remember he is a bunny is going to do bunny things.

Yeah definitely something weird going on there. I re-emailed the vet I’ve been taking him to, re-iterating his cheek looks swollen and stressing I think it could be his teeth/elongated tooth roots so I’m hoping she will listen. I’m not sure the other vet I emailed would be any better due to some of the reviews I saw… but I’m hoping the one I’ve…[Read more]
