That’s wonderful! Thank you for the update, I’m glad it turned out to be nothing serious.

No cancer! It was an inflamed duct, the vet was able to express all the fluid and the lump is gone. She said it’s not a common issue but it can happen even if she’s never had babies or lactated before. I’m so relieved!

Yes, chicken wire would work. I agree it will need some kind of structure though. Personally, I like the rectangular grid mesh fencing better. It’s more sturdy and the openings are smaller.

I agree, she looks noticeably thinner. I would have the vet check her teeth and do blood work. They may also want a poop sample to test for internal parasites.

Hi guys! Sorry for the lack of response, it’s been a busy couple of days with work and snow storms! Lol

Anyway, they are settling in just fine, I think I was just being overly nervous haha. They are eating and drinking normally, the only thing I have noticed is that Finnegan’s decided he can poop everywhere right now, but I assume that will calm…[Read more]

He did handle it pretty well, I let him stay at the vet till he was eating, which was a couple of days.

He was then on Chloramphenicol for a couple of weeks.

That should work, you might want to have some sort of structure to create a frame though, as chicken wire can be pretty floppy. I also have heard of baby bunnies fitting through 1 inch mesh, so you might want to go a mesh size down if your bun is small!

There’s some examples of housing made with chicken wire in this section:…[Read more]

Thanks so much for your reply! Do you think something like this would work for a temporary cage?

    25 ft. L x 24-inch H Galvanized Steel Hexagonal Wire Netting with 1-inch x 1-inch Mesh Size

Our rolled fencing is made from either galvanized steel or vinyl and comes in unobtrusive colours including black or green. Versatile and durable, our fencing…[Read more]

@Hazel hi! I totally agree with you! After some research I did find this out and I kept my bun inside for a week. It’s now 11 degrees Celsius outside and around 13 in the garage, so I decided to move him back in the garage, as it’s more comfortable for him now. The plan for the future is to convert the garage into a playroom with better ins…[Read more]

You could save some of his daily pellets and give them as treats when you brush him. Adult buns should always want more pellets than they get 😃

Not all buns molt in clumps, some just shed, and they can shed for extended periods of time.  You are of course right in that some buns do shed more than others.

It’s always good to have simethicone…[Read more]

@Bam @Hazel thank you so much guys! Now I can stop stressing as much! I meant to type a quarter cup haha but overall I do think I give him a lot of pellets considering he’s only a mini lop. It’s his favourite food so I give more when he gets spooked out by a smell or sound etc. so I think of it as his comfort food lol but I will make sure to kee…[Read more]

Thank you for your advice! I don’t think he is molting as clumps don’t seem to be coming off him, its more that he just seems to be shedding quite a bit. I am unsure of his breed but he has short, dense hair. I’ve only had him for a couple months and in that time he seems to just consistently shed, maybe it’s partly stress related from coming to a…[Read more]

Thank you for your response! He does have normal hair. I tried out the lint roller technique this morning to catch some of the loose hairs after brushing him with one of those rubber hand gloves and it definitely helped! 🙂 He does seem to drink quite a bit of water out of his bowl and I always wet his veggies for some extra moisture also. I will…[Read more]

I don’t think cardboard will work, as he could easily chew through it.

Some options could be picking up an exercise pen or dog crate from a pet store (sometimes thrift stores also have these for cheap). You could see if you could track down NIC cube grids in a store like target or walmart to make a pen. You could also get wire mesh from the…[Read more]

Agree with Bam, could be a number of things and bloodwork is usually the first step.

I agree with Dana, she has lost a lot of weight and unplanned substantial weight loss should always be investigated, both in humans and animals.

Several things could be the cause. Your vet will probably want to do bloodworks. Bloodworks is a very good diagnostic tool.
