These droppings look wonderful. Full of golden bits of hay from the look of them. Nice size and shape.
General signs of good health in a rabbit are, for example, a good appetite, clear eyes without discharge, soft and shiny fur (unless the rabbit is in a molt, in which case the fur can look horrible even if the bun is super healthy), lots of…[Read more]

Is this dropping normal? Also what are signs of a healthy rabbit?

I live in Nicaragua, cows eat a mix of grains and … food scraps to get big, no hay, petshops rarely bring hay, and most of the bunnies here are raised with lettuce and certain herbs that are found in the wild, and they are healthy even without the hay (which is a huge relief) they get apple wood branches to chew on for their teeth.

Breintje & Cooper’s shenanigans crack me up! Especially picturing the mash potatoes! Dorian does the couch thing a bit, but a little more calm. I have however recently discovered a bunch of holes in my sweat shirts from when I though he was innocently snuggling.

My rabbit recently had an issue where he was wet all under and up his backside above his tail and everything. The underside looked a lot like that. I had to give him a butt bath and cleaned him up but still missed a spot above his tail! Anyhow it turned out that the way one of his litter boxes was arranged was causing him to sit in a puddle. I…[Read more]

I also have cats and bunnies and I very much agree about the spray bottle! The cat in this situation is the one that is going to need to modify her behavior. One of my cats likes the rabbits and they’re friends. Another of my cats is a total psychopath and I had to train him that bunnies are totally and completely off limits at all times. It…[Read more]

I plucked Oscar today, he really needed it. He wasn’t happy with me, but now he looks… better? 🙄 I can’t wait for him to be done molting.

Since it’s just these soft things, I wonder if he is having issues with his swallow reflex. Perhaps the veggies “stick” when he tries to swallow because they don’t end up in a ball like drier foods.

Hi hi!! So odd that it’s April already….
Yes, Spring molting has begun. Fur is abundant both in the air and in the trashcan, haha! Every morning, I use the reusable lint roller in all the favorite “lounge” spots, in fear that Fable will dig at it to move her own fur, haha.

Hazel replied to the topic bonding behavior help in the forum BONDING 5 years, 4 months ago
The fact that the breeder encouraged you to try and bond two unspayed does shows she knows next to nothing about rabbits, other than how to make more of them. They are much more likely to injure or even kill each other than to successfully bond. Breeders don’t have their rabbits fixed, for obvious reasons, so it’s not like they speak from…[Read more]

Breintje you little rascal!
I can imagine Cooper doing something like that. If you sit on the couch he will absolutely not leave you alone. Either you must be petting him, or he will crawl all over you licking you and nibbling your buttons (he’s very obsessed with the strings on my hoodie). Or trying to yank your wine glass out of your hand! He…[Read more]

Hahaha, yes we get a lot of extra special bunny seasoning. And it sticks so well to jam on toast. Sit down on the sofa and all the fur flies up, to snow down over you and your breakfast.
Sometimes it’s not only the fur, but you get a whole bunny in your food. Never said Breintje was an elegant boy 🙄 We were having dinner and I wanted to give…[Read more]

Some of the bunnies in the Howcast vids are so cute. I think there is on named “Bean” and they demonstrated scent glad cleaning with him. He had this look on his face like, “Excuuuuse me! Bad enough you are all up in my business, and now I’m being filmed??” 😀

Keep us posted on how it goes with your buns! I’ll do the same. I haven’t turned it on today… but maybe tomorrow?
But also Myra is going to start molting soon, so don’t want to add too much extra stress on her. She gets very grumpy and pouts when she molts.

DanaNM replied to the topic Spring Molt in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 4 months ago
He might tolerate the lint rolling well since he doesn’t mind the plucking! Myra HATES being hand plucked, hence the table. The trick is to put and hand over their eyes with one hand and groom with the other. Most bunnies won’t move when they can’t see, and usually after a minute or two they settle down and accept the situation. But since he’s…[Read more]

Maybe if you explain his worsening symptoms the new vet can get you in sooner?

I’d also like to point out that I personally disagree with the breeder’s comment that HRS is the PETA of bunny care. I personally find HRS (and Binky Bunny!) pretty chill and unbiased sources of bunny care. Also, I agree with what others have said about spaying and neutering buns: It actually can lengthen their lifespans! As a (probably too much)…[Read more]
