I also have cats and bunnies and I very much agree about the spray bottle! The cat in this situation is the one that is going to need to modify her behavior. One of my cats likes the rabbits and they’re friends. Another of my cats is a total psychopath and I had to train him that bunnies are totally and completely off limits at all times. It…[Read more]

I plucked Oscar today, he really needed it. He wasn’t happy with me, but now he looks… better? 🙄 I can’t wait for him to be done molting.

Since it’s just these soft things, I wonder if he is having issues with his swallow reflex. Perhaps the veggies “stick” when he tries to swallow because they don’t end up in a ball like drier foods.

Hi hi!! So odd that it’s April already….
Yes, Spring molting has begun. Fur is abundant both in the air and in the trashcan, haha! Every morning, I use the reusable lint roller in all the favorite “lounge” spots, in fear that Fable will dig at it to move her own fur, haha.

The fact that the breeder encouraged you to try and bond two unspayed does shows she knows next to nothing about rabbits, other than how to make more of them. They are much more likely to injure or even kill each other than to successfully bond. Breeders don’t have their rabbits fixed, for obvious reasons, so it’s not like they speak from…[Read more]

Breintje you little rascal!
I can imagine Cooper doing something like that. If you sit on the couch he will absolutely not leave you alone. Either you must be petting him, or he will crawl all over you licking you and nibbling your buttons (he’s very obsessed with the strings on my hoodie). Or trying to yank your wine glass out of your hand! He…[Read more]

Hahaha, yes we get a lot of extra special bunny seasoning. And it sticks so well to jam on toast. Sit down on the sofa and all the fur flies up, to snow down over you and your breakfast.
Sometimes it’s not only the fur, but you get a whole bunny in your food. Never said Breintje was an elegant boy 🙄 We were having dinner and I wanted to give…[Read more]

Some of the bunnies in the Howcast vids are so cute. I think there is on named “Bean” and they demonstrated scent glad cleaning with him. He had this look on his face like, “Excuuuuse me! Bad enough you are all up in my business, and now I’m being filmed??” 😀

Keep us posted on how it goes with your buns! I’ll do the same. I haven’t turned it on today… but maybe tomorrow?
But also Myra is going to start molting soon, so don’t want to add too much extra stress on her. She gets very grumpy and pouts when she molts.

DanaNM replied to the topic Spring Molt in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 4 months ago
He might tolerate the lint rolling well since he doesn’t mind the plucking! Myra HATES being hand plucked, hence the table. The trick is to put and hand over their eyes with one hand and groom with the other. Most bunnies won’t move when they can’t see, and usually after a minute or two they settle down and accept the situation. But since he’s…[Read more]

Poor guy 🙁
Maybe if you explain his worsening symptoms the new vet can get you in sooner?

I’d also like to point out that I personally disagree with the breeder’s comment that HRS is the PETA of bunny care. I personally find HRS (and Binky Bunny!) pretty chill and unbiased sources of bunny care. Also, I agree with what others have said about spaying and neutering buns: It actually can lengthen their lifespans! As a (probably too much)…[Read more]

fairly normal PNW spring here (cold one minute, too mildly warm the next, mix of sun, rain and hail). And yes definitely molting season! I think I am going to have digestive tract issue due to all the fluff I am eating as it’s on everything.
I can’t imagine having the air conditioner on right now! (I don’t even own one)

I am in this exact situation! I moved into a townhouse last November and the buns are upstairs. They have one bedroom and I have the other. It just reached 80 degrees and the upstairs is getting very hot! The first time I accidently turned on a ceiling fan when we first moved in Ruby totally freaked out. Like ran back and forth and thumped for…[Read more]

are you able to give him a large varieties of greens & herbs (bonus points for wild foraging as can be more fibrous)? If you can generally manage 3 different varieties a day and something close to 9 per week I think you should be fine. Especially if he is a good hay eater (you can add some variety there to for more balance). I would chat with your…[Read more]

The Bunny Lady seems less emotional (and has a great website), plus Jana Brock seems very knowledgeable. The Jana Brock ones can get a little boring, and you can tell she is very passionate about certain points, but I don’t find the information to be exaggerated or show-y. She does stress bonding rabbits, but I do understand that most people can’t…[Read more]

I cannot imagine trying to brush my bun for anything close to an hour.! I’d be happy for more than 5 seconds some days. I would see what you bun tolerates, if you can get a longer groom once every couple of days then that is probably more efficient. If you have a difficult bun like me, then it several times a day for however long you can get.

Thanks Dina! He did have a bit of tummy issue in the beginning and gave him simethcone, sorry totally forgetting how to spell that, baby gas drops, and he was much better after an hour. But I will remember the water/hay tea. Luckily he loves his hay and greens so that’s not an issue. I don’t like putting him on tables as he doesn’t just stay there…[Read more]
