It is fine to treat for both ear infection and EC without confirmation. Maybe even a better route because you get treatment faster and bun may feel better sooner. At the end of the day, it depends on what the root cause is though.

I would’ve opted out of the test too and asked them to go ahead and treat asap. When an animal is acutely ill, you dont really want to wait for tests to come back before you start treatment.
Treatment for an ear infection is antibiotics. Antibiotics can be given together with the most commonly used EC med, Panacur and some vets opt to treat EC…[Read more]

Hi! Im crying right now. I dropped off my bunny at the ER and they started treating him for EC and ear infection without ruling out one or the other. I declined to get the EC blood test due to reading that its not reliable and now im hoping that i made the right decision. The test was almost $400 dollars. The doctor said they can tell looking at…[Read more]

I don’t want to get too excited but my boys and I had our first 24 hour stretch this time around. It went great. No issues at all and I even slept some. Snuggling, flopping, lots of mutual grooming, eating, playing with toys, sharing litterbox, eating, playing with the same toy together. I fell asleep shortly and woke up and thought they jum…[Read more]

Hi, I’m not sure if you saw my response after the original, I think it was awaiting moderation a bit, but all was well. She was hadn’t been into the stasis long and I got her out of it pretty quick, otherwise we definitely would have went to the ER first thing in the morning. Thank you for the response!

So the weekend is going ok. Decided to get in as many hours as possible since they do seem to do best the longer they are together plus this was kinda my last big time commitment for a while before I reevaluate.
Started Friday about 3 or 4 pm. I have notes but overall I think they were working things out themselves other than me calling “no”. So…[Read more]

mia replied to the topic Fur loss and weight loss in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years ago
Weight loss with molt is normal as buns need more energy to grow the fur back. She is also a strict hay eater, because she’s a weirdo, which would also cause more loss. I just don’t know how much is acceptable.
The vet didn’t ask me to go in so I guess at least it’s not an emergency.

Unfortunately the boots have come with their own set of problems in that they’re irritating his skin where they strap around his legs. His fur is falling out in these spots and creating sores on the legs. I know they’re not too tight either. I am at my wits end on how to help this guy. 😭

I replied in your other thread, please absolutely keep them separated. If they are getting into each other’s areas you need to modify the area or move one into another room. The timing of sexual maturity is not exact and isn’t worth the risk.
Right now they are only interested in mating, this isn’t bonding.

thank you!! I was not getting a good feeling about how they were acting in this new space. Today was the third long day in it and I felt like we weren’t progressing at all. So I have kept them together I just moved to a space at my home that they haven’t been in. They have been almost back to themselves since I did. Some grooming and laying in t…[Read more]
