I also dont know how the infection advances. Should it have been worse by now? Because during this one month it has almost been the same, is that normal or should he have shown more symptoms if he had an infection?

Hey all,
I was grooming one of my rabbits and noticed 2 skin flakes on his skin, around his back/shoulders behind his ears. Did not see any more anywhere else on his body and his ears looked clear and clean. He had an annual check up last month, the only other health issue is that he has only 1 top incisor, so perhaps it is from him not being…[Read more]

The sneezing is about 1time every half an hour and it has been like that for the whole month, maybe the last week a little bit less. They also ray checked it two times and told me that it is completely healthy but im really getting anxious when i notice anything out of order. As for the lyeing down i think its normal because today he was very…[Read more]

It sounds like you have mostly sorted things out! Sorry just seeing this now.
Spaying/ neutering (for both buns) is very important for successful bonding, so the plan to get her spayed is a good one. Then you should wait at least 3-4 weeks for her hormones to settle. I agree that cage swapping is great, but I think waiting till after she’s healed…[Read more]

Is he always peeing on the floor in the same spot? Does he ever pee in his box?
When buns get older, they can start to get a bit lazy with box habits, so sometimes a box with lower sides can help.
I also just moved and it took Bun Jovi about a month to stop marking the room. He still has some occasional accidents, but he’s also 12 so I cut him a…[Read more]

I agree that he should go back to the vet (or a dif vet if you don’t trust your current one), that sounds like something that may not resolve on its own.
@Wick My understanding of “pocket pet” vet is vet that treats animals smaller than dogs and cats, so usually they are experienced with exotics. That doesn’t necessarily mean they are rabbit…[Read more]

I agree with Wick. Sometimes significant is going on if you have tearing to the point of fur loss. Your bunny could have a tooth root issue or a blocked tear duct. You should probably have x-rays done to rule out possible causes.
Are you thinking there is a growth in his cheek? Like an abscess? Or does his entire cheek look “swollen”? The reason…[Read more]

Yes, I’m always suspicious when a vet focuses only on pasteurella. As Wick as, there are a lot of different types of bacteria that cause cause a URI. Pasteurella is just one of them. The normal “go-to” treatment is to start with a broad spectrum oral antibiotic. Sometimes you have to try more than one because whatever it is may be resistant to…[Read more]

The piggy is a sweet older boy. He lost his brother suddenly last year. He gets lots of extra goodies from me.

Hmm… like @Cinnamon Bun, I have never had experience with this and would definitely recommend taking her to a vet. Poor girl, hope she feels better soon 🙂

Re: lying on its side, that can be a rabbits simply lounging, which isn’t concerning. If your rabbit is being lethargic (which is not having a lot of energy), then that’s a problem. Most rabbits sleep during the daytime hours, so keep that in mind that it may just be your rabbit trying to sleep.

It’s hard to tell if it is swollen since I don’t have a baseline, though if you feel it is, I would get it assessed by a vet. If there is some sort of growth, abscess, or something building up there, the earlier it is identified, the better.
Tearing which leads to fur loss is pretty major. Have x-rays ever been done on his head? Sometimes, dental…[Read more]

Ok that’s unfortunate that you don’t have access to vets and that means it’s on you! More than likely it’s diet and you can eliminate and then slowly reintroduce foods to see what the problems are. littlelionman is correct that actual diarrhea needs immediately veterinary care but if she was eating it then I’m sure it was wet cecotropes. They can…[Read more]

I visited an exotic pets vet and she gave me some drops to put in its nose every day for a week, after that didnt work she gave an antibiotics treatment for 2 weeks even though we werent sure if the rabbit had pasteurella.
