Hello thank you for your response!

I took Appa to an exotic pet vet that was recommended on a bun website to find reliable and affordable spays and neuters for bunnies. I was a bit worried she only used the tool to look at his teeth and didn’t order any X-rays. Could I ask when you find a vet do you ask if they specialize in rabbit care? I’m…[Read more]

I use CareFresh and I don’t think buns eating it is horrible for them as it’s reclaimed natural wood and paper fiber (source: CareFresh FAQ) which are digestible. I would liken it to a bun eating wood sticks and toilet paper rolls. My bun doesn’t really like grates for his litter and rarely pees/poos in the one with a grate. I would also use the…[Read more]

    Hi everyone,

Thank you so much, this is super helpful!  OK, so it sounds like what’s best would be getting them spayed at the same time and keeping them separated with an exercise pen wall, especially when unsupervised, while they’re healing.  (After that, maybe use “stunt doubles” (stuffed animals with their scent on it) and/or watching how t…[Read more]

Re: the hormonal turmoil, it has been observed that some rabbits exhibit more intense hormonally-driven behavior immediately after a spay/neuter, and this is attributed to the body’s hormones acclimating to the procedure itself. So a just-neutered rabbit may end up marking, digging, chewing, etc. more intensely after recovering from his neuter for…[Read more]

Congratulations on having a healthy senior bun!

If Caesar approves, brushing is good. It increases blood flow to the skin, so it is a form of light massage. Some rabbits dont like being brushed though, so I’m thinking it’s up to Caesar to “decide”.

Removing loose fur by plucking, brushing and/or combing is very important. It decreases the amount…[Read more]

I would keep them separated no matter what. A spay is major surgery, afterwards their hormones go up and down erratically for a few weeks (which is what Bam was referring to), plus they will smell completely different coming home from the vet so they might not even recognize each other. The chances of them fighting is much higher than it normally…[Read more]

It can be a bit pricey at first but incontinence pads! I bought washable incontinence pads on amazon cut them to the size of my litter pans and sewed the seam up. I shake the pads out into a compost bin and throw them in a bunny-only laundry basket ready for the wash! It took a few weeks for my guys to get used to them but now 5 years later and…[Read more]

Hello all of you fabulous bunny people! 🙂

My bun Caesar is getting quite old, he is 9 1/2 and aside from being blind, is perking along quite well. Due to age, he has trouble grooming and needs butt baths a few times a week because his edible poops sometimes get stuck/cant reach them and it’s a mess.

His fur is constantly coming out, like a…[Read more]

    Hey!

I hope your rabbit is back to eating hay, if not, I would definitely get a second opinion. My rabbit started to get picky with food and stopped eating hay, I took her to her vet who said her teeth looked perfectly fine.

I ended up taking her to an exotic animal hospital and the vet that looked in her mouth said she had severe dental…[Read more]

    Cute bunny!

I’ve had an air purifier for years with my rabbit and she seems to have gotten very used to the sound and notices when it’s off. She doesn’t like it when it’s off.

Thank you so much, Bam!! 🙂

So I did some reading (my own bunnies had already been fixed before I adopted them, so I wasn’t familiar) and found more info from these sources.  All say that you don’t need to separate the bunnies as long as they are interacting calmly — what do you all…[Read more]

Thanks everyone, I nixed this cage for that and a couple other reasons and found a solution for about an 11ft² one. I’m super committed to giving lots or free roam time, I will just have to figure out how to balance the dogs being crated vs the bunny roaming. I do a lot of enrichment work and trick training with my dogs and am hoping to continue…[Read more]

Surplus cecotrope droppings and other poop irregularities like oddly shaped fecal poop is very common when a bun’s tummy is struggling to get back to normal.
