Thank you Susanne! Yes I think I will have to do that in my next place. This place doesn’t necessarily have the best layout for alternative accommodations for her so I think I’ll just have to let it go for now until I figure out a better solution. I tried the masking tape thing too but she got a taste for that now as well! Ugh, it’s exhau…[Read more]

Thank you for your detailed response Wick and Fable. I guess this is just life now with my little girl! I’ve tried the cardboard cat scratches in her “hotspots” and it helps deter a bunch of destruction but she still eventually gets bored and moves on to something else I’d prefer she doesn’t do. You offered some great suggestions with the anchor…[Read more]

Honestly it is up to you there is no right or wrong way to go. People do take there bunny’s on airplanes, and there is actually a bunny that travels the world. The bunnies personality comes in too, is he afraid of car ride, or loud noises? Since it is a one time thing and not like you would be going back and forth a lot it would be fine to take h…[Read more]

Hi, sorry to hear of your troubles. I can empathize! I agree with Wick & Fable (though I still need to try the suggestion to get more things anchored for my bun) that it’s relatively normal. I have one non-destructive bun that I got first, so it was a bit disappointing to deal with a destructo- bun that I bonded him with. At first I hoped the…[Read more]

I wouldn’t characterize her behaviors as aggressive or dominant — they actually sound like normal rabbit behavior. Instinctively, rabbits are going to be chewers– their teeth are constantly growing, so it is an imperative on their end to use a lot of energy to keep their mouths occupied. Unfortunately, yes, this is very frustrating to us owners,…[Read more]

Hello all!
Challenged bunny mom here at nearly my witts end! I love my little 1 year old (spayed) female rescue but she is totally ruining my house. Since I got her at 4 months old, I have let her free roam with the hopes of a full fun life and that her emergent aggressive behavior would settle with age. However, despite having a house that’s li…[Read more]

How old is your bun? Was he more (or less) active when he first came to you?
I found a rabbit in the woods once, my first bun as a grown up. (It’s the bun in my avatar, Bam. I also took my BB name from him. He changed my life for the better).
We could never figure out his age since he was fully adult when we found him, but it seemed pretty…[Read more]

Some joint support (GAGs, glucoseaminoglucans) can sometimes cause stomach upset in humans as well.
Is he on meloxicam for arthritis? (Meloxicam can be a bit hard on the tummy too, but can be combined with famotidine to protect the stomach lining). Arthritic rabbits typically do well on a maintenance dose of meloxicam. For more severe pain,…[Read more]

The type of “sugar” in Benebac is frucooligosaccharides (FOS). FoS are not simple sugars, they don’t elevate blood sugar and they count as soluble fiber and are food for many beneficial gut bacteria (=prebiotics). Here is a little bit of info on FOS:

Sticking to the recommended dose is of course always…[Read more]

An ear infection of the middle ears are best seen on skull x rays. X rays are also the best way to see and determine the severity of dental problems. There are dental problems that are so extensive that they can’t be fixed, and in those cases, pain relief and adjustment of the diet are the only things you can do.
Did the antibiotics help with the…[Read more]

I’m very sorry for you and Conker.
Head tilt and nystagmus as you describe are as a rule due to either an ear infection or e cuniculi. The tests for e cuniculi are notoriously unreliable and may produce false negatives. Many vets will treat on suspicion. Treatment consists of 4 weeks of Panacur (fenbendazole), plus often meloxicam, sometimes…[Read more]

My rabbit doesn’t do anything all day. We give him tons of space to run around and stuff but he never uses it. We have almost had him for a year now and he has never binkyed but he flops a lot, he has jumped around when me let him on the grass but still not very much. He is healthy but constantly sleeps and is never super energetic.
