Kibble is often the last food type they go back to. Its normal that she prefers greens. She should however go back to eating hay soon, because her tummy really needs hay.

Is it normal that she’s only really eating veggies and not a lot of hay or kibble since her emergency? I think she had sweeter kibbles and hay when at the hospital. Could that by why? Like she misses the other taste? She’s eating everything else but her hay and kibbles. Destroyed her veggies

Ok. She seemed to have more energy and she started eating later on in the day. I think she might’ve been a bit warm, or the bad weather we’ve been having was throwing her off (I know pressure changes can affect animals sometimes) Or maybe I was just looking into how she was laying a bit awkward way to much, I kind of overthink and then freak out…[Read more]

Well, I was only worried about pneumonia because of the potential ammonia build up, and I’ve heard that can easily cause pneumonia, and then I knew loss of appetite and lethargy were some of the symptoms. (I guess actual respiratory problems would be the main symptoms tho)

She perked up a lot about 45 minutes after I posted this, and started e…[Read more]

Her hutch is in our garage, it’s closed at night and when we’re gone because I worry about predators, and it’s open during the day. (She always has a fan on regardless)

She perked up a lot about 45 minutes after I posted this, and started eating so I think she’s fine. (She had enough energy to demolish an entire chew stick in about 15 minutes…[Read more]

I agree. Give it some more time. Once his hormones settle, he will settle into his adult personality… whatever that may be. Baby bunnies are like a box of chocolates. You can’t predict their adult personality based on their behavior as babies. Most babies are cuddly and affectionate, but that can all go out the window once puberty hits.

LBJ10 replied to the topic E. Cuniculi Positive Bun – Concerns in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years ago

Highly unlikely. There are documented cases of EC infections in people, but they were severely immunocompromised (e.g. HIV). I would listen to your doctor. There is little reason to be concerned.

I’m assuming Thumper is a single rabbit. This means he has had EC for some time, probably from his mother when he was born. Just because his titer is…[Read more]

Nothing you are describing would suggest pneumonia. But I agree, less interest in food and laying around more than normal is concerning. Does she seem  uncomfortable? Does she shift positions a lot? Pressing her belly to the floor (like she’s doing a pushup)?

As long as she is eating and pooping, I would say that is a good sign. Sometimes it takes a while for them to get back to 100% after an episode like this.

I doubt a bunny could fit it’s head through the grid holes. Do you mean the square door hole? You want a rectangular door?

It would start causing fights. That is a sign that they are old enough to get spayed.

The size would be close enough but there have square holes instead of rectangular holes. Thank you though.

You can make a makeshift Elizabethan collar out of a paper saucer/plate and some adhesive tape – just to keep her from busying herself with the wound until you can see the vet tomorrow.

Metacam is good because it takes away pain and/or itching, so it might make her less inclined to mess with the wound.

If you normally use wood shavings or…[Read more]
