Nothing you are describing would suggest pneumonia. But I agree, less interest in food and laying around more than normal is concerning. Does she seem uncomfortable? Does she shift positions a lot? Pressing her belly to the floor (like she’s doing a pushup)?

As long as she is eating and pooping, I would say that is a good sign. Sometimes it takes a while for them to get back to 100% after an episode like this.

I doubt a bunny could fit it’s head through the grid holes. Do you mean the square door hole? You want a rectangular door?

It would start causing fights. That is a sign that they are old enough to get spayed.

The size would be close enough but there have square holes instead of rectangular holes. Thank you though.

You can make a makeshift Elizabethan collar out of a paper saucer/plate and some adhesive tape – just to keep her from busying herself with the wound until you can see the vet tomorrow.
Metacam is good because it takes away pain and/or itching, so it might make her less inclined to mess with the wound.
If you normally use wood shavings or…[Read more]

If you still have metacam and had been storing it properly up until now, a dose probably wouldn’t hurt — she’s like not feeling great with it open.
I’d do what you can to keep her environment clean so no dirt/debris can irritate or mosey near the wound itself. Also, if you notice her fixating on it, try to distract her or something so she…[Read more]

Hello,My bunny got spayed almost a week ago, and I checked her sutures today to which I see it open 🙁 I immediately called the vet and sent the picture, and they told me to bring her in tomorrow morning as the doctor is no longer there. She’s eating, drinking, and pooping fine, but I’m still very worried about her. We started Metacam a lit…[Read more]

What makes you think it is pneumonia?
If she has not eaten in 12 hours, please seek emergency vet care as soon as you can — that is a legitimate emergency.
If she has not eaten in several hours, you may need to force feed her so her GI system does not slow down.

Hey is it normal that she’s not eating 100% what she used too and it’s taking time to get back to 100%

You could give her some Simethicone in case it’s gas.

@Lindsey Oh no, poor little Leo. 🙁 At least you know what’s wrong with him now. I hope the molar trim goes well and he will feel much better soon!
We just ordered two jumping spiders, they should get here in a couple of days. I never had pet spiders before, should be interesting! 🙂 I’m normally not much of a spider person, but these f…[Read more]

So, my doe is acting a bit off. She’s never been an overly energetic bun, but she’s acting more lethargic than normal. It is the middle of the day, and she usually does relax around now, but the way she’s laying concerns me, it’s almost like the position they take on when they flop, but she isn’t flopping, she’s just laying down and then rolling…[Read more]

I’m actually surprised you are having trouble finding a rabbit-savvy vet in CA– they are quite enthusiastic about rabbit ownership there. If you haven’t already, here’s a list of rabbit-savvy vets you can check in northern CA/Bay Area: https://rabbit.org/rabbit-center/local-rabbit-veterinarians/
If the vet you went to was not rabbit-experienced,…[Read more]

Hi all I attempted to get my little lionhead Nimbus spayed today at a clinic and they just called me and told me that they were unable to complete the spay because she suffered from a bradycardia event. She’s fine but I obviously can’t have her done at the clinic now and I’m wondering about the possibility of having her spayed at all. This is a…[Read more]

It could be his personality, and also keep in mind that post-neuter “craze” that can occur — since the hormones are still getting settled from the neuter, it can really highlight hormonal behaviors in the bun. This can express in different ways, and perhaps for your rabbit it is a lack of wanting socialization with humans (i.e. large predators).…[Read more]
