It’s when we are close to her we hear it. When she’s sick we hear it across the room.

I recently adopted a 4 month old neutered boy. He is a lion head mixed named Zimba. Zimba drinks a lot of water. About 500ml a day. Because he’s still a baby so I now let him have 1/4 alfalfa pellets a day. And I’ve noticed that when he’s on more pellets he drinks even more water. Maybe 700 ml. Of course he owes A LOT too. His urine is prett…[Read more]

Oohhh my husband bought a food dehydrator for drying seaweed samples (during the pandemic when he couldn’t access his lab)… I could use it for drying things for the buns!

There are quite a few options for seagrass mats in the Binky Bunny store, my bunnies really like them. They do nibble on them so it doubles as enrichment, and they are woven in a way that they don’t fall apart right away.

I’ve also bought various timothy mats, but they tend to fall apart too quickly for me.

You can make mats out of newspaper or…[Read more]

Thats great that your rabbit is okay my rabbits have ate half of a fleece sheet and been fine but they cant eat blueberries because that makes sense. My rabbits have gotten into many things and things happen it is not something to beat yourself up about.

They won’t have access to the edges there will be nibble guards on it. One of my rabbit cages ( I have two currently) is plywood with peel and stick tiles on it and it is slippery so there would have to be like you said grass or paper mats on top. I don’t know what grass or paper mats are though?

My rabbits are very dedicated chewers and one of them would most likely be an odd of she can’t eat tons of fruits and veggies because they don’t agree with her.

My rabbit knowledge has grown, learning that there are fruit- and mushroom-specific food dryers.

Whatever you dry, it should be completely dry when you package it. Its a good idea to check (feel with your fingers) the dried goods for moisture a day our so after you’ve put it in bags or jars, because residual moisture will give mold and bacteria the chance to thrive. Thicker stems will dry better and more quickly  if you cleave them.

DanaNM replied to the topic How to search Binky bunny topics in the forum TECHNICAL STUFF 5 years ago

Yep! There’s a search function in the forum, but it may not be the most visible if you are using the mobile version. While you are in the forum section, look for the magnifying glass in the top right corner, in line with the tabs for Forum, Members, Profile, etc.

Or using Google as Wick suggested works great too!

Coroplast is pretty soft (relatively speaking), so they could chew it if they can access the edges.

What about a sheet of plywood with peel and stick tiles or a sheet of vinyl attached to it? Then some grass or paper mats on top?

While there may be the odd rabbit that it doesn’t agree with, I have found it to safe in my experience.

It is very very hard, so they aren’t actually eating a large amount of it at any given time. I also don’t give them 24/7  access to it (only while they are getting their exercise time). We gave it to buns at the rescue, and I’ve been giving it…[Read more]

Now I’m wondering if I can get my hands on some organic sunflowers for my buns. I think the farm we get our produce from grows them, maybe when they cut the flowers they could give us extra stalks? Hmmmmm

I love jumping spiders! What kind of housing set up do they need?

Some quiet gurgling is OK and normal. How close are you when you hear them? Like if you are petting bun and you hear them, that seems OK to me, but if you are across the room and hear them, then she could be a bit gassy.

I often give my buns a little gentle tummy rub when I hear gurgling just to be on the safe side.

DanaNM replied to the topic Help! Scabs on outside of bunny’s ears in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years ago

Sounds like it could be fur mites? Most rabbits have fur mites but their immune system keeps them in check, but then sometimes they flair up.

Treated pretty easily with Revolution, just be sure never to use a product containing fipronil (frontline) on bunnies!

Great! Rabbits can be very clever when it comes to food. I had one who attempted to steal an entire bag of jellybeans. Caught him as he was dragging it across the floor to get it to “safety” 😱

Bam replied to the topic Help! Scabs on outside of bunny’s ears in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years ago

She could have scratched her ears and caused the scabs?

Has she been vaccinated recently? Scabs on ears are a rare side effect of some of the vaccines.

Ear mites as you say occur on the insides of the ears. Fur mites can occur on the outside of the ears and look like dandruff. They can form scabs that are the same color as the skin and easier…[Read more]
