Thanks so much! I deep cleaned the apartment and we went a good few days without any issues. They went back to flopping and cuddling together. Today I had to get out of the house for a bit, and when I came back they oddly close together in the back part under my bed. not really where Wolfie prefers to be, but they looked fine so I brushed it off.…[Read more]

I would stick with this arrangement for at least a week, maybe 2, to let everyone calm down and get used to the new bun being around. I usually do at least a week of settling in with no side swapping, sometimes more depending on the bun.

It may be necessary (and helpful to bonding) to restrict Phil’s space to a large pen until they are…[Read more]

Day 3 has been rocky. First, the new bun bit me this morning but I don’t blame him for that, he didn’t want to be lifted out of his overnight pen and I didn’t listen to him so fair enough.

We swapped the areas around. So he’s now in her preferred part of the room and she’s back to being free roam everywhere else. This has caused a major upset.…[Read more]

Ringworm can occur in rabbits that have excellent living conditions, and it’s not known why. Ringworm isn’t a worm or parasite, it is a fungal infection. Treatment consists of an oral antifungal and/or antifungal cream that you apply on the affected areas. It can require several weeks of medication.

How scary, your rabbit was very lucky to have escaped, hopefully uninjured. It’s great that you have put an extra lock on the door for safety. However, mistakes happen as you’ve seen, so I think it’s important to work with your dog and desensitize him to the rabbit and teach him that chasing is never ever an option, whether he gets into the room or not.

Oh, makes sense! I did feel the treatment a bit short too, but I’m guessing the vet got a little coy since he doesn’t have much experience with bunnies. Once I have the x-rays I’ll probably go back to him and the second vet that checked Amapola since they’re the ones that gave me the most confidence and results!

Neomycin can cause ototoxicity. That’s why you want to make sure the ear drum isn’t ruptured. This depends on the dosage too. Higher dosage = higher risk.

It’s definitely frustrating when you can’t find a vet that knows enough about rabbits. You probably did see some improvement with the Tresaderm. It would have taken the swelling down. However,…[Read more]

Having two of you suggesting the same gives me hope, hehe. I’m going for the x-rays to see whether or not it’s the tooth root. I’m also keeping my vet updated, he’s hoping it will clear things up. Thank you so much for your answer.

OK, I assumed the eye drops probably contained a steroid too. The antibiotic course sounds very short. If it was only 4 days, then that isn’t long enough. Antibiotics should be given for two weeks… longer if the infection is stubborn.

It’s a good idea to rule out a tooth root problem. That will let you know if this is something that can be…[Read more]

Hmm… I’m not convinced that this was caused by the flooring. But getting the grass mats won’t hurt anything.

I would suggest having a vet take a look to rule out an infection. Fungal infections (ringworm) and bacterial infections can form around the nails and the early signs often look like this.

Thanks a lot for the quick answer!

The first eye drops I used are called “KirOffal Dexa” and it’s from the same brand as the LagriVet lube(Kirón), the later ones are “Gentadex” Both contain dexamethasone, but gentadex also has gentamicin.  The antibiotic was Baytril, fist time I gave one tablet over the course of four days, 1/4 daily. Next t…[Read more]

Yes I was worried about the tresaderm as well with such a long treatment. For now he is only on the trizultra plus keto. I have a follow up on October 7th however I did call the vet’s to let them know what else was going on. The vet  I saw couldn’t see Milo’s eardrums at the time of examination… some days I think Milo can hear me other days I…[Read more]

Seems like he might be having some gas troubles.

You do not want to forcefeed when there is a blockage, so see here for guidance on how to try identifying it at home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVW6Rw5rZzo

If it is just gas pain with no blockage, some at-home treatment can be effective in helping him get through it. If it is approach…[Read more]

My rabbit always come when called and this time he didn’t so I checked up on him and he keeps staying in that position. His stomach is not hard. He can run when I tried to force feed and walk properly. But he keeps lying in the nearest place with his legs tucked in. Please help?

Click “Add Media”, then click the “Upload Files” tab on the pop-up window. It should let you then select the uploaded picture in the “Media Library” section to “Insert into topic”.

Yeah, I think at this point they probably shouldn’t have play time together either. Can you get 2 play pens so they can run around side-by-side?

Is he fully free-roam? We’ve had a few members with free-roam bunnies that became overly territorial. They had some success with penning the rabbit to a smaller area part of the time, so they became less possessive over the rest of the house (also is a nice option for if he’s being crazy when she’s over). Having the bun have a smaller area that is…[Read more]
