ConfuzedBunny started the topic Large pea-sized hard lumps in Mini Lops ears? in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 11 months ago
Today I noticed a large pea-sized lump on my 9 month old neutered Mini Lops ear.
I cannot believe I never noticed it before, because it is so large that it sticks out very noticeably, it is like it popped up from no where.
When lifting the ear into the light, the lump makes a dark red shadow, and the lump can be felt from the outside and inside…[Read more]

I agree that 2 weeks is nothing in rabbit land! And accepting any petting or food means you are well on your way. Rabbits that are truly feral usually aren’t possible to catch. And I agree that being in a safe home is wonderful for her. In time, if you have the ability, she may appreciate having a bonded companion, but that’s something you can…[Read more]

Two weeks is practically nothing when it comes to gaining the trust of a rabbit that isnt a very young baby. Rabbits are low in the food chain and many species of predators, both birds and land-living are out to get them, day and night. If your girl was of a more trusting nature, she would not have lasted many days in the wild.
Young rabbits tend…[Read more]

Thank you for the response! This is my first rabbit, so I have been researching so much so that we can give her a good life, I have only ever owned rats. She definitely is very wary of her current environment right now, so I will try what you suggested to see if that gives her some more peace of mind and comfort. We have only had her for 2 weeks,…[Read more]

Thank you for adopting this rabbit!
Rabbits that have been living feral tend to be slow to trust humans. That she allows you to hand feed her and pet her is great. It means you are starting to build trust. My best advice is just to be patient. Time is a huge factor. My first stray bun needed a whole year before he warmed up to his humans. My…[Read more]

We have recently adopted a foster rabbit that was found living outside-she was a pet prior and was probably abandoned. We are unsure how long she was outside for and how long she has gone without human companionship. The people who found her separated her from another rabbit-whom we think she may have been bonded with. We have been making very…[Read more]

Hi and welcome to the BB forums!
First of all, a newly neutered bun will still have a lot of hormones circulating in his system. This will subside, but it can take 2-8 weeks, during which time the rabbit can display even more hormonal behaviors than prior to the neuter. This is absolutely normal, but its good to be aware of it ☺
Second,…[Read more]

Hello everyone I am new here ☺️
I got my first bunny six months ago, he is suppose to be a purebred Holland lop, the breeder told me he was a girl to begin with but about a week ago I found out “she” was actually a he lol 😝anyways, I got him neutered this past Monday on the 20th.
When I first brought him home in April, he urinated and poo…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic is it normal sneezes or something to be worried about? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 11 months ago
I agree with Wick. Having a white nasal discharge is a red flag. This is a symptom of a URI and will need to be treated. The good news is that antibiotics are relatively inexpensive. Just make sure the vet prescribes an adequate treatment duration. We often see people give their bunny an antibiotic for only 7 days and then see a recurrence of the…[Read more]

Yes, I would have a vet look at it just in case. Especially if the swelling hasn’t gone down. Continued swelling suggests something more is going on.

Bunnies can have weird poop following surgery. It’s been awhile since her spay though, so you wouldn’t think it was from that. If they do have issues, it usually resolves within a few days.

If you started from scratch with your own wood you cut from a tree, it could be any bun safe wood. Or you could just soak the toys they already have.

Hi, thank you so much for the replies.
The vets have said that the incision from her spay has healed (at the 12-day appointment).
My feeling is that it is related to gut issues. Unfortunately, I have seen the weird, jelly poop with our late bunny, Peri. She had dental disease and in a particularly GI stasis episode, she produced both…[Read more]
