I agree with the above. True allergies are pretty rare in rabbits, and they are usually only diagnosed after an infection is thoroughly ruled out.

I’m so happy to hear he’s doing so well! What a lovely update!
You did amazing with him, hindsight is always 20/20 as they say. EC is a pretty insidious disease so definitely don’t beat yourself up about not treating for it sooner. I had the same struggle with my bun, as I thought he just had worsening arthritis for months, turns out he also had…[Read more]

Thanks for responding, I actually do wish to get my rabbit neutered to avoid these behaviors because I don’t really him spraying all over the house. He isn’t actually super territorial, every act of disposing waste he goes into his cage to do it but it’s always during spring he gets mating behavior and I don’t really like it a lot because he…[Read more]

First of all, thank you for saving a flea market bun!
Unfortunately many buns cant be trusted with total free roaming. This can change as the bun gets older. Most creatures incl humans get less wild when they start hitting middle age. I’m sorry Hellen has caused you financial loss with her (totally normal but still very inconvenient) bunstructo…[Read more]

Your bun sounds like a normal bun 🙂
Thumping doesn’t absolutely have to be a part of the rabbit courtship ritual, but it can be. Honking doesnt have to be about mating, some (many) neutered buns honk and buzz and circle when they sense the possibility of something good to eat. It seems likely that rabbits have a rather “limited” repertoire of…[Read more]

My rabbit is a 3 year old not neutered male, he is not neutered because my family see it as expensive and my dad doesn’t like the fact I’m trying to take away what “makes him a man” or something. Because of the fact that he is not neutered, he does try to have his way with my shoes or feet. He has always been a quiet rabbit, making little to no…[Read more]

The playpen shown above is my current solution (All of 10 minutes old) for my rabbit Hellen.
Hellen is a gorgeous lionhead that is about 2 1/2 years old. I got her 1 1/2 years ago.
She was a flea market bunny, and spent the first year of her life in a cage. When I first got her, she was very timid and reserved.
When I began to let her…[Read more]

Hi,
Benjamin is doing really well and I wanted to give a final update for this thread. In January he was doing very unwell and wasn’t keeping his weight, so thanks to advice from members on this forum I switched him over to Emeraid and starting giving him Equa Holistics HealthyGut Probiotics for Bunnies. He has made a full recovery and is a…[Read more]

Why is separation not possible? How big is the enclosure? Would it be possible to split it in two? It isn’t ideal, but at least they would be separated until you can get them spayed.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Head Tilt/Facial Paralysis after TECA-BO (no ear infection) in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 1 year, 3 months ago
Bam hit on this a little bit, but another possibility could be permanent damage caused by scar tissue. I had a bunny with permanent facial paralysis from chronic URI’s that eventually migrated to the ear and damaged the nerve. He was treated, of course, but the facial paralysis never resolved.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Bunny wheezing? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 1 year, 3 months ago
I agree. If it’s getting worse, it would be advised to pursue the matter further. Just because there is no discharge, does not mean there isn’t an infection. She’s also a dwarf breed, so her facial structures are smooshed. Depending on how the sinuses are shaped, it can cause “pockets” where stuff pools making them more prone to infections.
